Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why Bernie, why?

While Bernie getting his own thread is a bit ridiculous, his 'less great' season this year does remind me of the days of Yze, Johnstone, Woewodin, Robertson, White, Bruce, Davey, Green and Moloney.

8 of our last 16 B&F winners only managed a few really elite seasons scattered here and there, mixed in with a lot of very good or just good (or even plain ordinary) seasons.

That pattern really messed up our salary cap, and the lack of 10-year consistent high performers I think is part of why we have been a bit fragile under pressure and vulnerable to boil-overs from teams much weaker on paper.

Looking for the 'any game, any time, always ready' attitude.

I like Bernie, but I've rarely seen an experienced senior player make the mistakes he does.  And he does it every single week.

I'd certainly agree with that for 2016. It appears his head has got even bigger after the Bluey.

Next to Jack Viney and the skip, hardest nut in the team....

Lol, mate. Come on. His aggression is almost the equivalent of Dunn's jump-punching from back in the day.

Bernie is a show pony when it comes to playing off half back. He can play some sublime games from the midfield though.

A more balanced post might be:

Is Bernie one of our best players?  Yes.

Does he give his all?  Yes.

Was yesterday one of his best games for us?  No.

Did he make quite a few mistakes?  Yes.

Spot on Mr Leg

Comprehension is obviously not a strong point of yours Ricky P. Vince's discipline has been horrendous all year. The reports, the stupid free kicks, the lack of leadership etc. No-one is saying he has been bad for the club. But as one the most experienced players he has to lead the way.

I don't mind it. He is trying to push things. We need to push things. He is trying to lead and take the game on. He has plenty of licence as far as I am concerned. And even if he makes a few mistakes I love his passion and aggression. The positives far outweight the negatives.

I wish more would play with his passion.

It seems to me that Bernie and Jones have decided they need to be tougher to lead the team. I noticed it with Jones last year and this year where he gets in peoples faces more and holds people down after tackles. Bernie has been doing it all this year. He constantly pins people down after tackles and gives them some lip. I don't mind it from time to time and when warranted, and actually think it is a good thing, but I have thought it has been a little over the top this year which can detract from its effectiveness. He has also given away a few silly 50's at really bad times and needs to know when to reign it in.

He is actually the guy that directs the players during most stoppages. Listening to him " wired up" during a game I thought he did it well and without too much ego.

Being the most experienced and arguably the best player on the team , I would have to say he is a leader.

Your arguement might stem from him getting pantsed at a pool game after a cricket final in Adelaide .

i judge him only on what he has done hear which is lead by word and deed in every possible way.

Even Hodge gives away the odd 50 for stupid acts of aggression but He kind of makes up for it with the odd Norm Smith and premiership medal here and there.

Giving away crucial 50s, missing crucial goals and running into the man on the mark at yet another crucial point are not signs of a leader.

Go back to your bananas and sexist joke thread now, people are talking footy here.

I would think that is a little hard when you play for a team that wins seven games a year stuie.

No Biff. Don't care about the slipping over. I care about the five stupid free kicks, the seven clangers, the bad options, the faux tough guy act, etc

You do realise that 5 of those clangers are the free kicks he gave away? Bit unfair to count the same stats twice.

Well we probably would have won the game if he had either finished that goal, not given away the 50 or been tackled by the man on the mark when we were about to enter our 50.

That's not leadership.

Leaders come out of their shell, take the game on and try to create something.

He does this every week and rarely makes clangers.

He IS one of our leaders ,even if it doesn't sit well with your superficial knowledge of football.

I think when Dawes fluffed his easy shot on goal and missed the lot we saw what a leader isn't.

Now I'm going to plant my head under a tram track, then I will come back and "talk footy"on your level.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
