Thought White was our best defender and set up some goals with good use of the ball coming through the middle. He's not afraid to attack the ball and kill it in the air either...

Grimes has been playing as a mid at Casey so that might part answer your question.

Thought he was Ok rjay. Didn't particularly stand out from any of 3 or 4 other defenders as mentioned.

Grimes is too small made to play or impact through mid at AFL level for more than a few short stints. Tends to drift to HB a fair bit where he mostly tends to hug the boundary. Need players who can also pull trigger inside running off HB. Unfortunately Grimes and most of our other defenders aren't capable here with the exception of Wags & Hunt.

Grimes work rate is second to none however, and I expect he will outperform/impact a little more than Bugg this week. And Vanders... Lucky! Another game just by tackling and being desperate and hitting the contest? Not sure that's enough but who am I to question. Roos still loves him obviously. Would have gone Vanders before Bugg based on last few weeks.

That's one reason White is playing 'Rusty', he's one of the better kicks in the squad. Looking at that back 6, Hunt can hurt with his breakaway speed but his disposal is still a bit iffy, Jetta is ok but the rest are hit or miss.

I agree with an earlier comment you made that Oliver would be better off learning his craft in the AFL but maybe it's more about not burning him out at the moment. He was the one that was the standout for me in last weeks VFL game, good to see him kicking a bit more, he has a really good leg and not afraid to go either side.

Really excited to see White back in the seniors. It seemed like that he had vanished off the face of the earth earlier in the season.

Goodwin will be taking stock. This is Whites chance to show what he is made of.

Agree ! IMO has some X factor left footer, reads play well, loves going forward, courageous, pace  and can kick a goal! Will be intereresting to watch!!

I hope I'm wrong because we need his kicking ability, however, big question mark on pace and athleticism.  I think a defender with these defincies will struggle with the current defensive style.  Can we clone Easton Wood?

From what I have seen (a somewhat limited amount) his pace is not an issue at all and he would be significantly quicker than Wagner.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
