WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT JACK

He's faster, I agree.

What else?

Which is the sole reason he shouldn't be picked & played across half forward.. Goodwins all about trying to create turnovers in the forward half, these are generated by pressure which is caused by players with leg speed to put the pressure on. I love Trengove but he's playing days are over, people say "yeah his slow but" there's no buts you can't be slow in todays football. The reason he plays well at VFL level is because the speed of the game is drastically slower than AFL.. I hope he some how proves me wrong

Let's have a look at him on the big stage again ,then after about 3 or 4 games, make a judgement .

Everything is pure speculation as we had only one game to look at him since the foot injury, which he carried undiagnosed prior to that.

All well and good but the blokes we've had in to chase and create turnovers have hardly covered themselves in glory.

At least Trengove can lay and stick a tackle. Just remember that approx 3/4 of a VFL team is made up of AFL listed players. They can't all be plodders that only JT can catch.

He'll get games this year but sadly he's become depth. We've done some wrong in the past but we've also had some rotten luck with high draft picks, I'm really hoping Brayshaw doesn't suffer the same bad luck as I think he could be an absolute gun. But then I thought that about Trenners too.

These turnovers ( not huge numbers ) are marvee. Someone who can actually kick a goal.... marvelous ;)

He's actually been averaging 25+ touches, lots of tackles, marking the ball strongly and hitting the scoreboard. His case for selection is as good as anyone's.

Nobody knows what role he might fill when he finally meets all of Goodwins objectives for him. You've placed him with blokes who either play solely in the guts or rotate off halfback.

I believe Trengove can easily impact a contest in the forward half at AFL so there's no issues there.

If I was to have a stab at anything holding him out of the team, it would be his burst then closing speed ability when the opposition rebounds. Nothing new really but if he can somehow manage to improve these facets of his game, I still believe he's a better choice than what we've been trialling/persisting with.

1 goal in 4 games isn't exactly hitting the scoreboard. I'm also in the camp that he should have been rewarded earlier due to form but my gut feel is his pace is just cooked and is now just a 'Pedo' selection if a Tyson or Oliver go down.

Sad really because i still had hopes for Trenners to make a impact for us this year.

I cant believe that when we get an injury or someone with poor form.

I never even think of Trenners as a replacement. A young Trenners I thought was better than Dangerfield.

Now he is not even in Dangers shadow.

It would be great to see him don the Red & Blue again, but only if form warrants it.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
