So...my McGovern trade is in the ball park???

McGovern doesn't interest me, but at least he's 24.

Why doesnt the media just say his dad is ill and this is what Hogan has to weigh up about going home or not. Yes I know its a private family matter but when people like Damo on radio today say there is a private family matter or something along those lines people are going to speculate.

By the way how do people know on this forum his dad is ill?

Anyway who knows whats going to happen. If there is this much speculation now about him imagine what it will be like during next season if we still have him.

The good aspect to this is that, if Hogan does decide to go back to WA, both WA sides are red hot into him.

As anyone knows with an auction, all you need is two potential purchasers that really want to win the auction and it's game on.

That said, I desperately hope he re-signs with the MFC. We need him.

You cannot be serious? The worst case scenario? That would be him leaving.

If he chooses to exercise his right to honour the last year of his contract, as is his right, do you honestly believe the club will trade him this year to enure they get a primo deal? Of course they won't. Because it would be stupid and the current fd is not stupid.

The worst case scenario is him staying on un-contracted, and then leaving at the end of next year. We all know we've been burnt by players doing this before and just look at the media circus around it this year - that is going to get much, much worse if he sticks around un-contracted, and it's not something Goodwin would want to be dealing with in his first year as coach.

Do you remember what the general public reaction was when Dayne Beams went home because his dad had cancer? A lot of uninformed people giving certified references on the character of someone they've never met.

Jake Niall on the couch said he thought he would stay. I gathered they know about his father but respectfully didn't go into it.

I think those stirring the trade pot ( weagles or whoever) in this case need to back off. He has enough pressure with his fathers situation.

It's unbearable!!! Ahhhh! I can't stand it. When will we know . It's a bloody nightmare. I feel sick....tell me it's not going to happen.... I fear it is....another sickening blow if he goes.

All-Australian Jeremy McGovern? You've got some weird opinions on players Adam.

Would I rather a top midfielder or a top forward for Jesse Hogan or a gun backman? The former.

Would be a gun CHF 'AF', only went back because they had no one else at the time.

I remember his early games forward, strong hands (still) & long 50 metre + goals...

Watching footy classified. Both Caro and Barrett both of the opinion Jesse is all but gone. Can't stand either of them and they couldn't back it up with any substance.

Lloyd was not sure

Also spoke about the WA clubs being interested in Hill, McCarthy and Lobb. Not sure how they will be able to put trades together for all these blokes.

Whenever a Freo/WCE user mentions a player to trade, I google them to see where they're from. Whenever I see "WA" I instantly think "No" - McGovern is from WA. I know there are many exceptions, but i'm just tired of losing of players.

Classified pretty adamant he's off.

On the Couch sure he's staying.

Hutchy says take Lobb over Hogan. Ha! Ahaha ha. Ha.

"Lobb could be the best player in the competition".

Ahahahahahaha.

They're headline chasers on Channel 9. Always have been. They will always take the more drastic stance as it keeps fuelling the fire and ensuring they have a discussion point for next week. If the line is he's staying, there's nothing to talk about.

Missed the FYFE segment on Classlessness, anyone know what he said? Apparently he's still giving ambiguous answers to questions about his future from the lead in. If so, then we should headhunt him.

He's a free agent end of next season and has previously stated said he will explore his options in free agency before making a decision.

I didn't see the segment but I'm guessing he just reiterated something similar to this.

Surely they could show more respect to his family matter than going on about it on every single TV show during a very difficult time for Jesse,

If it were me i'd refuse to go to the WCE simply because they've shown so little respect in stirring this up at a really bad time for him.

After reading these 104 pages of speculation I'm no clearer if he is staying or going. To be honest i dont really care. Players come and go. Dont get me wrong, we need alot of compensation if indeed he does jump ship for whatever reason. I have faith in our list management dept.

When we get into big finals it's very useful to have match-winners who can turn the game by their own actions.  We've seen it already with Cameron and Bontempelli, and of course there's Franklin and Dangerfield.

They are rare beasts but Hogan can be one of them.  When I look at our list I see a lot of talent coming through but few game breakers.  In the right circumstance big Max could do it, maybe Petracca can grow into this, Jayden Hunt is another slim possibility.  That's why it's very desirable to retain Jesse.

He has yet to show me even a glimpse that he can be a game breaker has a lot of work to do and it starts by losing the attitude but then a lot of demons supporters just wish it to be.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
