If there was ever a story of David vs Golaith this a story worth talking about & one which gives smaller clubs in any code of sport that when you get commitment,desire,for one another & teamwork all based on one common goal not dictated by big money transfers or greedy players but a club which went to their players during the transfer window to go after a big name players to strengthen their squad, the players replied no as they had something special a chemistry that can't be manipulated by money  but a common desire from players who were never big names but were willing to bust there guts for the jumper and believed in one another! A team in its 132 yr history never won a championship so no ethos of success & fighting relegation last season!

This is the EPl the richest & toughest league of the world with 38 home & away not to mention FA cup, Carling cup & euro champions league play offs .. Leicester FC spent 58 million pounds vs Chelse 205 mill pounds to win 2014/2015 championship throw in teams like Man U , Man city , Arsenal all spending around the same!

I hope this inspires the smaller clubs in the AfL which had seen a domination by 4 clubs in the last 10+ yrs either winning or playing in a Gf & of course this can be possible for the MFC that it can be done!

I've been supporting Man City for nearly as long as I've supported MFC, but I wanted the Foxes to win the title head of Man City.

It's a fantasitic story because it reaffirms my belief that coaches can make a difference if they can instill belief amongst the players.

Ranieri had none of this BS of taking 2 years to teach the players how to defend, before they learnt how to attack. None of this BS about a rebuild. It was all about getting results on the field from day 1.

The greatest coaching achievement in the history of sport.

And did you hear the deal the coach was on. Minimum wage, PLUS 100G for each position above 18th at end of season, PLUS 1.5? Mill (i think)  if won the premiership.... Now that is a clever coach!

It couldn't happen in AFL. A soccer team can be made a champion team by the addition of 3 or 4 great players. As happened hear for a range of reasons... along with team belief, great coach  etc etc. An AFL team needs more than just 3 or 4 champions and a coach

I dont think we will ever see wooden spoon to premiers in the AFL

I dont get how the EPL is so popular when there is no salary cap... I must admit I know nothing about soccer, though, but in that case it must be the same few teams winning the title every year (well besides this year obviously)

Would like to see a list of major leagues from arond the world with no salary cap, I bet most are soccer leagues

I've also supported Man City since the mid 90s and felt the same way. I didn't think I'd see anything to rival the 2012 league win in terms of sporting drama but this pips it. Even the manner in which it was clenched with Chelsea the reigning champs taking their arch rivals out of the race. And to think Ranieri would not have even been at the club were it not for a sex tape controversy.

As freakish an occurrence as this is, it now remains to be seen if this is truly a landmark moment in English football as far as narrowing the gap between the haves and have nots. Leicester aren't the only story. West Ham are still in the hunt for Europe and are about to move to a stadium that will rival the big clubs. Chelsea will finish just above mid table. United have looked vulnerable at home all season and will likely finish outside the top four. Aston Villa, a massive club in their own right that have been in the Premier League since its inception, are now relegated. Certainly the new TV rights deal could nudge the likes of Southhampton and Everton from European aspirants to title aspirants. Times appear to be changing which is great for the league and the supporters.

But in saying that, Leicester have won the title before the new deal comes into play with their entire roster costing less than City paid for Kevin de Bruyne. It's a remarkable achievement in anyone's language and even if it is to be a season that signals a changing of the guard, it's hard to see it ever being surpassed as an underdog story.

As a lifelong Gunner i tip my hat to Leicester. They had the fire in the belly to not let go

I hope Roosy talks to our players about what Leicester have done.

The lesser of two evils or should I say the Leicester of two evils. Spurs are young and they were mighty this year, unearthed new champions in Harry, Dele Ali and Co. Just need to finish above Arsenal...nothing else matters.

Epl a lot different they buy players & lower leagues like championship is very strong along with football academies their kids are developed to play at the level.. Afl drafts kids from U18 comp to develop them to afl 

Reds fan, but very happy for Leicester and always really liked Ranieri. Thought he was hard done by at Chelsea. Amazing stuff. There's not really an apt AFL equivalent due to the lack of a salary cap, but the Leceister team is about $30 million. The Man Utd team they played on Sunday night was worth $300 million. Salary caps aside, this'd be like a VFL side winning the AFL flag.

Only pipped by the great Nottingham Forest winning back to back Eurpoean Cups under Brian Clough (see username). But seriously, it is a monumental achievement.

As for its relevance to footy, I just can't see such an underdog winning a flag. Reason being in football/soccer, I think the lower scoring lends itself to upsets and more unpredictability. There is no chance of a team like Carlton this year coming out and consistently winning games of footy.

An absolute great story and season, one that not only saw the foxes win but the premier league Giants that are Bournemouth defy all the odds and injuries to their best players to remain up.

 

Now, to make the year perfect, we just need the mighty red and blue, Crystal Palace belt those overpriced tosses from Manchester and win the FA cup

And forest won the league in their first season after being promoted.

With astute management, belief, confidence and a good balance between attack and defence anything is possible. Money won't buy you success.

Southampton have similar potential.

I'm site Chelski and money city will do into their billions to buy more players.  As great add this is, I highly doubt it will happen again soon. 

I'll keep following the Trotters in ye Olde 3rd division.  ?

They are now in the Champions League and will have to spend money to increase the size of the squad, plus up the salaries to keep their top players, doubt whether then can sustain, although brilliant to see for this year, especially with Spurs going so agonisingly close. Everton were their usual blind date selves, promise so much early and then fizzle out
