Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

When does Petracca get unleashed?

Recommended Posts

I was near the interchange bench and I can tell you that Petracca came off numerous times in the last quarter. He was also sent to defence at one point and I got the impression they were trying to keep away him from general play.

Frankston were terrible and if you think he will be picked this week then you have no idea. He is definitely not fit enough for AFL.

Brayshaw ran the game out so I like his chances this week.

Talk about a lippy Petracca!

Lining up for goal and a 150kg Franky supporter yells out "out of bounds d**ckhead"

Trac kicks it and turns straight around to the crowd and yells  "what was that mate?"

Brave. Or a little unwise.

Oh noooooooo, something was posted twice in different places on Demonland....?!

Hard to say when Petracca should play. We need to see whether he can run out a full game at VFL level (at full intensity, Frankston doesn't count) before we'll have an indication. I'd rather we didn't have to carry too many young fellas who can't quite run out games.

Man Frankstone suck! which doesn't surprise me considering the suburb they represent.

None of the players should be called up after that game, that was no where near AFL standard.

On carrying Oliver and Petracca in the same team: Clayton - greatest number of effective disposals for Melb vs North in 65% ground time. Top bracket in contested and clearances. And a couple goals to boot. Hardly feels like we're carrying him. Would be pretty happy with another pinch-hitter like that. One playing predominantly forward with other options to run the wings in Garlett, BenKen and Vanders.

On Petracca and injury risk: if it is still a genuine concern should he be playing full games for Casey?

Ignorant comment.

If Frankston had a VFL team back in the day they would have had the likes of Leigh Matthews, Kel Moore, Peter Knights, Brereton and plenty of others from around the powerhouse Mornington Peninsula.  It has a great football pedigree.

1 Take one Petracca Attacker tm

2 Insert into change room

3 Give last minute battle plan

4 Launch Petracca Attacker into Collingwood half back line

5 Stand back watch carnage and applaud  ( Jolly good show , what)

Imagine what Oliver will do once he gets up to 85-90% game time! This kid is a freak.

Unfortunately though you can't have more than one player who can't run out a game. They may still be effective but it limits what other players are able to do due to having to compensate for their time on the bench. It will make it harder for the team to run out games.

Won't be too long though until we see them ripping games apart. I'm looking forward to the second half of the season with hopefully a fit and firing Oliver, Brayshaw and Petracca joining Viney and Max Gawn in the middle.

Lol considering Casey encoumpasses Hallam and Narre Warren, I'm not sure we should be throwing stones.

And before anyone has a go, I lived in Narre for 4 years and my wife hails from Hallam.

Firstly - the pace and intensity of VFL is not the same as AFL.

Secondly - he is having his time monitored so he is not playing "Full games" for Casey

Thirdly  - it is not so much injury risk - the risk of playing at AFL is around his fitness level - it will hamper the team if he can't run out a game.

I always thought Richmond but I reckon this could be pushed back to St Kilda, another 2 runs at VFL should see him cherry ripe.  Brayshaw another run VFL this week in for Richmond.  I wouldn't mind 1 change this week Garlett for Vince.

With less rotations, having players who can only play 65% or less is carrying them.

We need to get cp or Oliver game time higher to fit both imo.

This is about a 7% increase on last week. If they keep increasing by this amount he'll be thereabouts with typical midfielders in another two weeks.

Brayshaw looks fit enough now but Petracca looks 2-3 away judging by the Casey game. A lot of jogging not a lot of sprinting. I'm guessing gut running defensively is a bit beyond his fitness just yet.

Shame about Trengove's concussion. Will set him back 2-3 weeks. His fitness looked ahead of CP5's. It's very exciting to see that it looks like he's made a full recovery from his foot. He will be a valuable in. The way the games going, players with elite endurance over speed are becoming very valuable. Plus our list doesn't have enough players with elite skills. And he will bring that. Can't wait to see all of them out there. Looks like in about 4 weeks time we could have CP5, Brayshaw, Trengove. Plus I hate to say it but on the strength of the first 3 rounds you'd have to have Dawes ahead of Pedersen and Frost for CHF. That'll make a big difference structurally to at least Watts who seems to be playing as the 2nd forward instead of 3rd. Should also help JH.

We seem to be managing Harmes and Wagner as well. And Tyson to an extent? I'm confident Petracca can manage 65% in a pocket and the others can chip in a couple extra % on field time each. Read: I'm too excited to wait, dammit!

If they are gearing him toward a full game at Casey this week then I hope they're confident he's not risking further injury. And if so, then it shouldn't be a concern in the AFL either.

He may be slightly uderdone but its time to give the Tracc a run in the 1sts. If Wagner got a ride of the Valkyries I reckon there is more to gain than lose by holding him back now.

I'm not sure what the correlation between playing fully fit Wagner and Petracca who has played 3/4's of a game against a substandard opposition in 18 months, is.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
