however....the press conference was at AAMI and the stage was on a north/south positioning with Jesse facing east/west - if his left eye moved but right eye didn't by my reckoning he is off to play for the Doveton Eagles.

No one seems to have noticed Jesse's tapping of his fingers on the desktop? It was clearly morse code, and to these old ears when decoded it was "I'm gone" repeated over and over. Also, if you play the club song backwards at 53.8rpm, "Jesse's off to Freo" can be heard over the general static.

I played club song backwards and all I got was a good omen that we were going to thump the Power. I heard "I bury Port".

Even if true and JH has invested in real estate in WA, this really means little.  I have an investment property on the Gold Coast, but I aint moving there.  No doubt, Jesse will go home at some point and it would be nice if he had a home to move into ............ wouldn't it?

How many times have you heard "mail" like this that has turned out to be 180 degrees wrong? There aren't enough hands in Australia to count on the fingers.

Yep, my favourite was when one commentator (Mark Ricciuto I think?) was declaring with supreme confidence that Simon Goodwin would be the new Crows coach, whilst Goodwin himself was holding a press conference at that very same moment announcing his deal with us.

What rubbish, Jesse and his manager have both publicly expressed his loyalty to the MFC, and a preference to stay in Melbourne the city, i have said it for a while now, teams like Collingwood and Hawthorn are a bigger threat then teams like Fremantle, but i believe very strongly that Jesse is waiting for the new deal thingy to work itself out before committing again

I will get torn to strips for this but here is a couple of quotes for you

"I love the club, I love all my teammates and I just want to be a part of the future at the footy club."

‘I’d love to end my career and say I was a one club player, and anticipate that will be the case,’’

His manager " You should be optimistic about him staying with Melbourne"

I am not comparing Jesse in any way shape or form to the lying little weasel ( and his manager)  that uttered those words but as far as I am concerned any expressions of love and loyalty by players and their managers is just fluff. I see no reason for Hogan to do anything right now with two years to run on his contract (other than play good football) . As much as I believe that Hogan could be a one in generation type footballer and we need to sign him, he will get the world thrown at him. It is completely out of our ( the supporters ) control but I also believe the club is in a good place and moving forward  - we need to keep rising up the ladder to give another good reason to why he would be silly to go elsewhere.

However I have been burned before by "loyal" players and as far as I am concerned I will enjoy the Hogan on field ride and his contract will be taken care of one way or another.

I've said it longer.

Yeah I have to admit the fluff that comes from players about loving a club and wanting to be a one club player is just that....fluff. Having said that, it's frustrating that this is going to drag even longer than any other contract issue BECAUSE HE'S GOT 2 SEASON LEFT! It makes perfect sense one way or another that he would wait until after the new CBA, who knows what it's going to mean for the players?

It sucks for us, we want to know he's signed and secure for a long time at the club but we're going to have to suck it up. The main frustration is that just about every article that features Jesse in it will have some kind of line of "Jesse Hogan, who chose to put off contract talks until the end of the season" placed smack bang in the middle. He's the most talked about player who's played 20 games FFS! It's a damn shame we can't just let him play footy!

The West Australian said he was also enjoying playing alongside close friends Harmes and Jesse Hogan.

“A lot of us are really good mates anyway but being out on the field together we can help one another out,” Kent said.

“It’s just an exciting time for the club, we’ve got a lot of young guys stepping up and I just can’t wait for round one."

From MFC  site.

Was Jon Ralph. Bloke's a lightweight.

Yep - and he's ours!

How many had Scully played when he caused the media circus about him staying or going?

Who gives a stuff? This kid's not Scully and the circumstances are completely different. Hogan can't just up and leave, there'd have to be a trade worked for him and I can't imagine what we would expect in return. I reckon he's ours for the next 4 years at least and if we're any good he'll stick around after that.

Not saying Hogan will leave.....

What's the point of having a draft system/salary cap as an equalisation to a so called competition, if clubs who finish near the bottom which happens when you have 18 teams only to see talented kids leave after 3 seasons.. Compensation is another early pick which is a lottery ..

Football the world game allows you to profit from selling talent & then buying other players.. .....

Afl you can't have it both ways!

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
