The first bloke you named has the same first name as Fullarton and Hawkins and isn’t a Jack, while there is a Jack who played with them, called Viney.

Yeah ive had a mare here.

JT obviously keeping a keen eye on the lad.  Does the quality and potential of Kalani partly explain why we haven't recruited more developing ruck depth at the recent draft and trade period?

If he's anywhere near as good as his old man, he could be a genuine ruck replacement for Max not too long after I'd expect Max to be in a 'retirement window'

I do fret a bit though and just hope we don't get dudded like we did with Mac Andrew, with a change to accademey and father son rules that makes it difficult or impossible for us to recruit Kalani.

I can see academy changing but less so father/son.  It is the ‘romantic’ part of a sterile corporate dish lick.  Might adjust discount, pre listing or other vehicles, but this runs way too deep to remove.  Academy rules are geared to make sure the afl has a saleable product at rights time.  Nothing fair about it.

197cm at 16yo. Probably stops growing now but we might get lucky and see him get to 200cm.

Not draftable until 2025.

He'll be 278cm by then, and still as thin as a straw!

Needs to go on the Tmac diet pronto!

Wonderful stuff!

Congratulations to Kalani.

Jeff looks an extremely proud Father! 😊

Just imagine the exceptional insights and development cues - even supervision of physical and mental acuities - that Jeff has been/will be imparting to Kalari!!! Such 'Demon Parenthood' is soon to more fully erupt; I just hope at my age that I live long enough to see the best of it! Carna Far Ken Demons!

Should we draft the family dog?

Nope.

I've seen dogs that are far hungrier for the ball than that.

My old under 12s footy coach had a real see ball, get ball kind of dog.  Was a whippett or something too, so had some good pace as well.  It mostly just trained with us, but every now and then it got out on the park on game day and really tore it up a bit.

You should hope we don't, with a profile picture like yours!

Has a bit of mongrel in him. I say yes.

Isn’t it great after jealously watching Cats, Pies, Hawks, Tiges, Blues father sons shining on the field it looks like it is going to be finally our turn to reap the benefits of our former stars. We now have Woey, Brownie and Rigoni and Kalani looks to be an absolute Jet in 2025 plus Aaron Davies lad Marley is moving to Melbourne to finish his education And Jeff has two more boys coming through. Can you really believe it, not that you can count on all making the cut but still very exciting for MFC supporters.

Yes I was looking forward, what an oversight Jack has been carrying the load for the past 12 years and is our second most famous father son, now he gets the opportunity to share the mantle with a range of sons and daughter.

Jack has been bloody awsome for the MFC.

The passion and heart and soul that he pours into his role is second to none.  Chip off the old block in terms of hardness and professionalism to training.

I think that's the real value in father son's, that loyalty and belonging that they have growing up around the club like Jack and the ethos being passed down from their parents.  See the same things going on with Woey, Brown and White.  Even though Billy and Wiz Jnr didn't ultimately make it, I feel there was alot of respect shown in hosting them at the club.  Billy in particular was credited by many as leading the way in his professional approach to training and positively influencing our culture in that way.

Nathan Brown on the Christmas  DeeBrief podcast interview was excited by the talent and athleticism of Kalani White. Nathan is a very positive human being. If Kynan Brown has that watch out he will be good because he already has the talent. Nathan said only around 7 players under 184cm were drafted. Shows how tough it is for players like Kynan at around 181/2 cm.

I could go on but have a listen. Great interview. Positive +++++++

Does JV have any sons?

I may be wrong but I believe he's got only girls.

Coincidentally,  I googled Demon Podcasts and listened to this yesterday before seeing this post. Never knew it existed.  Nathan was excellent and the hosts were fine. Even gave Demonland a plug.  I'll tune in again.

That picture in that context makes me think Selwood is in for a nasty shock when his kids apply for 'father-son' eligibility.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
