Thought I'd start a thread and see who was interested in going around again in 2016, also set the rules for year and if we were to have keepers again?

Posted

I'd like to go in again. Having said that I think we had too many teams last year, and it was impossible to pull back the top side. Any chance of capping at 12?

Guys I'm out. I'm in another comp with mates which is already consuming far to much of my time!

Except for the bitching and moaning by some, I've had a great time playing this and enjoyed running it last year.

Scarlett, Good Vibes, Poita & Robbo 24 Lads good to here from you all and HNY 2016.

Firstly Robbo 24, sorry to see you go champ, you have been a star for the entire 5 year journey of the Norm Smith ComP. If you change your Mind you are always welcome back.

Scarlett - as much as I like the keepers concept I think it is impossible with the High team churn rate of this Comp in the last few years.

Poita - I think your call for 12 teams is a fair one and will allow for greater depth in the player pool and make draft night that much more critical and strategic.

Is anyone putting there hand up to run the Comp in 2016? Due to work commitments there is no way I could do the job justice.

Anyway it's still only Jan. let's check back on numbers mid Feb, last years teams get first preference to return. If we haven't got the numbers by mid Feb we open up to new teams. Happy to cap the team numbers at whatever number of teams we all agree is a fair amount.

JCB are you out there?

with wiseblood are we filling up with members from last year first or who ever puts there name up, with 2 or 3 already dropping out i'd imagine we would be able to squeeze him in.

Posted

Lets hold fire with filling the comp for 2 weeks.

Wiseblood is first in line to claim a vacant spot. With 3 confirmed not returning he is on top of the list to claim the first vacant spot in the comp.  We just need to work out how many teams we are capping the comp @ in 2016.

thanks for putting your hand up Wisey you are 99.9% over the line. Welcome aboard!!!!!!!

Good on you mate, happy to be aboard!  Just let me know the info in terms of how many teams you have and so forth when you can.  Looking forward to being a part of it if I get a gig! :)

i think if we drop to 12 teams there will still be quite a bit of talent not signed, where as if we go 14, 2 less then last year i think it will be a bit more difficult but the better coaches will show with there picks and signings. Once we get a few more numbers up over the next two weeks, I think we should discuss it more seriously then.

Posted

My thoughts are 14 teams would be ideal. It's two less than last year & will throw 40 more players into the player pool.

With "The Galah's & Wiseman we are currently @ 11 teams.

3 more & we have a full house.

Feb 16 is the cut off for last years teams to appear. Then we finalise teams number,  & recruit new players if needed.

All that's left is to create league, set draft night & random select draft order.

We can then have a group discussion & work out scoring categories & category value's for 2016.

I don't think we had the scoring right last year. Not enough reward for handbills & hit outs.

Just my thoughts gents? Fire away what do you all think ?

Posted

yep hit outs should never have been put down to one, it worked out better to play a second ruck who might snag a goal or get a few more kicks than to win the hitouts. made drafting goldie and that early a bad choice. i think there are other scoring categories that you can put in as well like spoils and that.

Posted

Hey .......don't make it to difficult for an old fart like me.....KISS is my believe....why try to make it to difficult....

Posted

What are you talking about JCB?

Fixing up a flawed scoring system in 2015 will make 2016 a better and more even contest for everyone. We are suggesting nothing more than Hit Outs are worth more than 1 point to bring elite ruckman back into play & handballs are worth the same as kicks.

Thats pretty much it?

Wheres the difficult bit?

You can do this Ol Fella?

Stay tuned we are going to have a ripping 2016 season?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
