Parish will most likely go 3 who ever has that pick. Because of Curnow's size, I think he could slip to around pick 10 to be honest. Clubs will bid high for Mills, Hopper & Kennedy, to make the Sydney clubs use high picks. There's obviously Weitering, Schache & Francis. Weideman is more your key forward who clubs will most likely favour instead of Curnow. So in my opinion, he falls at pick 8 at least. Then there's Balic who's a gun mid. Collins who's the 2nd best key back who I don't think will go past Adelaide's 1st pick (currently 9). And then there's Tucker.

Im no draft expert but Balic doesn't interest me at all. If we stay at pick 6 I am praying for Curnow.

GC needs players, not more picks this year.

But I wonder if they'd play 2016 ladder roulette with us and trade 3 + their 2016 1st for 6 + our 2016 1st?

Then we can give that 1st rounder back to them next year in the Prestia trade : )

We just gained 3 and 10 for 6 and a future first round pick.

To those who have watched him play

Is he quick?

Is he a great kick?

Hoping hes the line-breaking mid we need if we take him

Didn't test well at the combine, which concerned me at first but most don't think it's an issue

Apparently is a very natural footballer

Reminds me of scully. Impact will be minimal

Think of a smaller Angus Brayshaw/Nick Dal Santo in terms of he is a footballer first before athlete. Can play inside and outside, his first 20m is quick off the mark. Not your typical soft outsider as i have seen him burrow under packs and use his quick hands and smarts to get him out of traffic.

In saying that though i have no doubt that he will start his career as a wingman and we'll see that outside dash and polish we lack big time. Also has the ability to go back and become the number 1 distributer off a half back due to his precise disposal.

Complete opposite player to Scully but anywho..

Need a Curnow v Parish v Francis thread asap!

Darcy Parish looks a bit like an undersized Isaac Heeney. I am not sure that he fits in with Roos big bodied, tall midfield profile. Maybe we will try to pinch Callum Mills from Sydney.

Then some players who no one talks about have like 14 minute packages!

Hard to get a good view of Parish or Curnow.

I see in one of the papers this morning he's been likened to Joel Selwood, albeit from someone out of the Geelong Falcons.

Well, that's the best thing about us having pick 3 and 7.

We're in a position to be the club that takes whichever player Melbourne foolishly overlooks at 3!

Admittedly I know nothing of him, but this is my (possibly unfounded?) concern too.

He looks a bit.... well, vanilla, if that is the right term?

Maybe just MFCSS, but can't help but worry he might be the Toumpas in the Wines/Toumpas scenario...

I've rarely seen a draftee likened to a current player actually turn out like that player.

Is it just me, or are there far fewer highlights packages of players this year?

Currently the only videos are from an amateur watcher piecing together play involvements (good, bad or indifferent) from two games that were televised in the National Championships.

Parish only has one game of involvements in Geelong where he only touched the ball 9 times. You are seeing those 9 touches in a game where he was a bit down (The previous game he had 24 touches and was BOG.

The videos are not highlights. The highlights will be done by the AFL closer to the draft.

That's probably just Mick Turner doing his usual preaching. Every year he has a "the best i've ever seen come through"

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
