Demon_JB 1,389 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 This guy is a pocket rocket. He keeps his feet and bounces off packs and gets out of trouble well. As I said earlier I believe he is going to be our Zorko. Watch this space.

Incredibly strong who doesn't lose his feet. a great game. I was surprised to hear him say in a recent interview that he will mostly play forward. He looks like more of a natural half forward or midfielder which was evident in his second half performance.
Sir Why You Little 37,450 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Kid can play. He should get better Did more today than Toumpas did in 3 years...

I don't really believe in forward flanks of old - I think he will end up playing that extra wing role from the HFF. He is competing with a few there though; Kent, Watts, Petracca, etc. none of those play exactly the same but their role will be similar.
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 He is a great combination of inside-outside, has pace and can finish off but is also tough at the contest and hates losing.
Gorgoroth 13,215 Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 As I have said before I liked what I had seen at the filth and my mate was spewing he left them. good debut, lots to like, really hope he builds on it and gets a good run at it which he never got at the filth.
PaulRB 6,435 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 He did one thing that particularly caught my eye, where he collected the ball just as the opposition player positioned himself to collect him, but instead of just conceding the tackle and being wrapped up, he turned further into the tackle, opening himself up to some hurt while managing to burst free. Was in the 3rd on the RH wing, from where he switched play. Was indicator of great body sense and courage, neat.
whatwhat say what 23,836 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 was that the highlight where garlett nailed the subsequent goal running in? it was pretty exciting to watch.
PaulRB 6,435 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I think it was a different one, but cant watch replay to find it... was in 3rd quarter with 6:45 to go.
Gator 18,053 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 He has a crack and does some nice stuff that gets undone by poor foot disposal. Not sold yet.

Play him on a wing or as a high half forward.

Ron Burgundy 8,588 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I thought Toumpas had a pretty good game. He just reminds me of an overly excited cocker-spaniel on a slippery floor every time I see him though. Wish him all the best though. Seems like a decent bloke. Glad we have Ben Kennedy.

Toumpas did a soft option in the 3rd, when he chose to kick off the ground instead of picking it up when hot.

Was it the one where he not only rode the bump but looked to use it to his advantage and knock him back to his feet and away from the contest? That was the one that impressed me.

For mine that was the most frustrating part of our game yesterday. In tight congestion our players ALWAYS look to take possession - they then get tackled and prolong the congestion (that or get pinged for holding it). Players need to be more aware of what's around, quite often there's an opportunity to tap to advantage. The good teams do this, I haven't seen us have those smarts for a while.

While I did notice this as well, I was impressed at how improved many of our players were in their ability to get their arms free in tackles to dish off handballs. Salem and Kennedy did this perfectly on several occasions.
Demon_JB 1,389 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I really like what this kid brings to the table.. but two things worry me about this guy His eyes lights up when he sees goals. Doesn't really seem to see anything else apart from trying to nail the goal himself His lack of penetration in his kicking. He always tries to run on an arc and unleash a hook kick to make up for his lack of long kicking but always seems to shank it. Other than that, think there is a lot to work with. Happy to have him in the team than Toumpas.

Kennedy was poor today but apart from that I've seen enough of him to confidently predict he won't become anything more than a fringe player. Hope to be proven wrong.
Yossarian 1,820 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I like Kennedy, but he's little. Unless he's in space, he's gonna get outmarked by most AFL standard midfielders and considering we're so bad at kicking out of defence, that's gonna be the majority of the time.
stuie 7,374 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Got hopes for him, but he was Ro Bail II today.
