If you want to be un-Melbournelike then perhaps you need to invent a time machine and go back to Sunday 24 May, 2015 or Sunday 21 June, 2015 and discover what it was about the team that led it to produce such diametrically opposite outcomes to those of the past two weeks instead of contemplating on the attitude of supporters or perceptions about the culture of the club.

It's only two or three years ago that Richmond supporters were consigning their memberships to the microwave but that sort of thing has nothing to do with improving player fitness, skills, mental approach and team strategies.

Concentrate on those things and not the BS we've been hearing lately in the media. Teach the players how to perform and do it consistently, that's all.

2. Get over Tom Scully

FCS, this boy was given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that any son of ours (posters) would be crazy to say no to. Yes he lied. But look at Lachy Henderson's truth. Look at Wallet's truth to the Bulldogs re: Sydney. We say players are weak. Fact is clubs themselves can't handle the cold hard reality.

OK, I enjoyed the banter of the money bags in the first game at the G, Melbourne v. Scully.

The continuing angst is just petulance in my book. Extreme petulance.

2. Get over Tom Scully

Did that long ago. I don't think many take issue with the decision, just the deceit.

He's not done much to hurt us until this year & his leaving created opportunities that we've capitalised on. Getting Hogan

The irony is that this year the footy he was playing pre-injury is exactly what we lack. Hard two way running on the outside

It's taken a long time but he now looks like becoming the player we hoped he'd be for us

So be it

Block/shepherd for teammates, put in an effort for 4 quarters (not just one), find targets, don't handball to teammates under pressure, attempt to move the ball on quickly, don't just bomb the ball into the forward line (especially to 3-1 contests), don't handball to teammates' boots, improve

clearance record, ruckman - actually tap to teammates, kick to teammates' advantage (not up and unders), kick goals rather than points (especially at critical times in matches), reduce incidence of fumbling and dropped marks, run both ways, run and spread to give teammates options, run and

spread, run and spread, don't fly for marks against teammates in a position to mark... Need I go on?

There's still angst about $cully. Really?

Sheesh. I must have the ear plugs in and the blinkers on. Haven't heard or read a thing.

I would have said, turn up to play. It's a biggy the last 3 games.

Get some overall vision to the club in terms of a plan for:

1. A long term home base

2. A standalone reserves team in the VFL

Set some standards for the playing group.

With either:

A) If you don't bust your absolute backside off and bring a physical intensity every time you play you don't play

OR

B) If you can't execute basic skills you don't play

I'd like to do both at once but I don't think we have the depth. Either way it seems too many guys coast through getting regular or semi regular games despite never improving

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
