i don't mind casboult. strong hands and can leap.

but that would leave Carlton with nothing DC.

get it done then. carlton can merge with essendung and become the greater northen suburbs (GNS) bluebottles

Interesting that Dawes only gets praise after wins. Plays at an acceptable level once we're in front, rest of the time he looks like he shouldn't be out there.

Well he is a forward. Funny how they tend to look better when the team plays better & gives them some opportunities hey?

he provides nothing for Hogan, Hogan's best bag came in a losing games that Dawes did not play.

we also won 2 from 6 without Dawes , & Hogan played well kicking 2 & 3 goals.

if anything Hogan's results have been better without Dawes or par at worst

Our best win came with Hogan out of the side...

I am not insinuating that Hogan shouldn't play but logic is as logic does...

Win the CP and the UP and give 50+ Inside 50s for a few weeks in a row and we can determine how the forward line is best structured.

Unfortunately, I don't see that happening this year.

Footscray & Richmond are 1 game outside the top 4 they are our best wins, Hogan played both

Would it be harder to teach Casboult to kick or Dawes to hold his marks?

when he kicks well he is very good

i think his kicking is improving, so yeah he's coachable

The potato is the noblest vegetable. Don't diss it.

Thats pretty funny Moon, where that big picture of me?:)

and he kicked 2+3 in those games

Another solid game, and another game where he is out of marking form - he can get better.

One thing that I think we have to remember with Dawes is that Hogan gets more space when Dawes is bullocking the top of that forward line.

Getting Hogan one-on-one is the aim of that forward line for the next decade.

I have been a critic but he was fantastic yesterday.

I'm in the same boat. But he needs to produce something similar consistently, because otherwise he's not good enough for mine.

Still think we should be looking for an upgrade this trade period.

Great game yesterday and I think his rucking is getting better, hope this is the start of a long reign of good form.

I have been a critic but he was fantastic yesterday.

As much as his marking has been a liability, yesterday he finally got some reward from the umpires for all the chopping of the arms and holding on that he constantly receives.

He did pretty well yesterday and we lost.

However, that's the level he should be playing at every week. His job is mainly to take marks, kick goals and protect/assist Hogan.

Got some good delivery and was too big for his opponents also.

one swallow

is better than winter

And I believe he will be in 2016

There just is no one else at present with our current injuries.

I have reconciled with myself that barring an injury he will play the last five games of 2015

Next year I pray is a different story.

just read this od.

do you know something? I hope we are after a Carlisle or Henderson, or other I haven't thought of who is already in the 23Yrs+ bracket... someone who'll be coming towards they're prime in 1 or 2 years time.

Dawes I hope, has a new deal elsewhere, that we haven't heard of yet?

one swallow

plays for North, and another for Gold Coast. Relevance?

is better than winter

yet footy is a winter game! At least for now for us - hopefully very soon it will also become a springtime game

True, though on his good days I think Pedo could be a serviceable second tall.

Again, I'm hoping we can find a good alternative so that we don't have to play both of them next year. Tomlinson or Casboult would be good pick ups I think.

they are both serviceable types. Dawes/Pedo... Pedo also with added strings , in the ruck or down back. & he's more rugged.

forget casboult I hope.

Tommo, OK; but he won't be truly ready for 3 or 4 years. that's OK, as long as we get someone stronger now, who could tomorrow, crash packs, take big marks, & also help in the ruck.

He is currently 27 years old. 4-5 years will make him 31-32.

He has a dodgy calf.

If he is playing in 4-5 years I hope it is not for us.

You are right, no point trading him as no-one will take him.

I hope our team is solid enough when his contract expires (eos 2016) we can 'delist' him.

Another club can give him a 'life-line' as a 'Delisted FA'.

Will cost them nothing.

We get freed up salary cap.

If we need his 'depth', sign him to 1 year contracts based on his performance, injury etc

But I reckon he will be out of the game by 30.

spot on LH

he could be useful to clubs with young & still troubled cultures, as a 3 Yr option. his guidance off field, as well as his experience on field, would help such a club settle into a healthy life rhythm. & to grow.

get it done then. carlton can merge with essendung and become the greater northen suburbs (GNS) bluebottles

do bluebottles fly dc ? just a thought.... :)

just found that rotten bug, ( Blue Ant - Diamma bicolor) it could replace that white ant on their jumpers, with a red background

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
