Jack Watts

So that's his excuse for kicking it into the man on the mark....bizarre.

Give it a break...in the Hawks v Tiges game Hodge kicked the ball into Delidio (on the mark)...then ran away from one of the best kicks in the game (Delidio) to protect space and let him kick an easy goal.

Poor kick, really poor decision...it happens.

Not great from Watts but he has been one of our better users of the ball for a while now, he had a bad day and obviously wasn't switched on at all for whatever reason.

Luke Hodge .... Jack Watts.....these two names should never be compared in any way.

I know I go on about it Rjay, but surely I'm not the only one who hated his game yesterday, seriously it must of happened 3 or 4 times where he kicked it to the opposition and he hand balled it to Brayshaw who got wrapped up straight away....you just don't do that.

He had a really bad one, no doubt as did a few of the other senior players.

How goes your resto, dl?

goes quick, too quick some times... still under-steering, as I haven't been giving it the attention, since I've just moved in here. After one week, the old couple across the street, his wife died, so I've spent a lot of time over there, helping him, & sorting his shed & fixing stuff, trying to help him with things.

spent weeks there helping.

back to doing my own stuff now, trying to catchup with the things I put on hold about 5 months ago. the car, & now the boat i just bought 4 weeks ago. don't know where to start.

continue unpacking & I'll try to find my remote controls & put my stereo together....

"Bad day" doesn't do it justice. Watts was horrendous.

We move on.

No mention of Jones' horrible game though? Garlett? Dunn? Hmmmmm surely you guys don't have a bias....

Agree Armstrong.

Roos said on 360 that Watts was crook as a dog during the week and on game day.

One poor game in his past 6-8, under duress as well, doesn't take away from the improvements he's made.

Yes, it must hurt these anti Watts posters when he puts in great games. On to him like a ton of bricks when he has an off day. Sad that they call themselves 'supporters'. It is always Jack's fault.

Just read back and not one comment from Henrietta Lumbago following Jack's brilliant game against Collingwood. He can't give praise when it is earned. Obviously dejected that Watts can play good footy.

your're the most negative [censored] on this site, your namesake Lumumba had a lot worse day than Watts and don't think he was crook!!

Watts the name of this thread, Stu ?

Perhaps if it was Nathan Jones or Bernie Vince or Jeff Garlett the same observations would have been made.

I know you're not the sharpest intellect wandering these forums, but it's unsurprising that in a thread called 'Jack Watts' some would vent their spleen at a truly horrible performance. You would have known this before you opened it, so when you decry what you knew would be the case it makes you look like a goose. Again.

All Melbourne supporters get frustrated when Jack mucks up. But I've always reckoned there's a cohort, albeit quite small, who feel joy when he stuffs up, because it gives them a chance to vent their spleen. It's pretty ugly.

Thats a bizarre view Rick Truely Bizzare. the cure is and always has been in jacks hands no matter what people on here say (or mean)

Why would anybody feel joy about that? The frustration is not just jack but the apologists on here.

Yep. JW has always been a soft target of the media, who massively exaggerate his shortcomings and use him as a tool to carp on MFC supporters. Unbelievably this mindset has been absorbed by some of our own supporters, who perpetuate it to torture themselves and each other.

Being only a recent member of the JW fan club, I watched him a bit on Sunday, and he wasn't very good. On one occasion he had the ball at HBF and stood scanning the field for several seconds. There was just no-one to kick to. As a key distributor, Jack plays best when the team are going well, but if they're not making space his job gets harder. The flu explanation for team lethargy is at least plausible.

Not at all. Regularly at the footy there will be people around me who won't say anything all day except to bag Watts. At the game on the weekend some bloke abused Jack for handballing when he was about to get tackled. It was a great handball which set up a shot at goal. Let's think about that - his first instinct was to bag Watts. He didn't even wait to see the play break down and THEN bag Watts. He was just too keen to get in there and have a crack. It was like fans yelling 'BALL' before it's really holding the ball because they want it to be holding the ball.

I'm certainly not talking about everyone who criticises Watts - everyone is entitled to their opinion. But some of our own fans enjoy bagging him. It's a small vocal minority, but it's there.

The one thing that posters on here don't complain of with Jack Watts is his kicking and ability to hit a target ,well most don't anyway.

On the weekend his kicking and hitting targets were terrible this would lead me to believe that the flu scenario or some sort of injury was the cause.

It looked like most of the team had trouble with running at speed and the fact that their pressure got them back in to it was brilliant to watch

Maybe we caught it off Collingwood who looked flat and slow last week

The guy is a frontrunner, and I mean that in the nicest possible way - teams need them. And he can be damaging, the same way that Sylvia could be damaging, but these types of players require others to get them the footy and they require certain conditions for optimal use.

Watts is getting better because the team is getting better and he will do some damage for us but it is when we are winning clearances and hard footy and getting him the ball and getting space in the forward line for him to kick to that he will be his most potent.

Yes, this is what many of us having been saying from the start and we have started to see it come true in the second half of this year as the team starts to 'click' a bit better than it has it in years. If Watts had started at the Hawks et al he would have had a completely different, and successful, career IMO

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
