Casey Scorpions Pink Ribbon Game

This weekend's Casey Scorpions v Geelong match is the club's Annual Pink Ribbon Game to help raise funds to find a cure for breast cancer.

Saturday 4 July, 2015 at Casey Fields 2.00pm

Despite the great cause, the Casey Scorpions continue to be shunned by the media. The Scorpions have only had one televised game to date this season and Casey Radio which operates from the area for some reason has been covering other football matches recently.

With Melbourne playing out of town in this round, it is hoped that Demon supporters will come down and support their boys and a great cause.

The development league team plays Sandringham at Trevor Barker Beach Oval, Sandringham from 9.30am.

Huge chance for King to play a game as the main man forward for the Scorps. Similarly Newton, Michie and Harmes should get full chance in the midfield to impress.

Another injury in Lumumba and taking the 2 emergencies up will test the depth.

I love the look of our spine with Fitzy, O. McDonald, Harmes and King. These four will ensure that we maintain some depth as we slowly climb the ladder.

It will be interesting to see the final line ups for today's main game at Casey Fields.

The Geelong interchange bench for the Adelaide game was Bartel, Bews, Jansen, Kolodjashnij, Luxford and Walker. The Cats most likely would have taken an extra player to Adelaide if not two as Melbourne has done with the Darwin game.

If all seven interchange players take part it would be a massive advantage to the Cats but in the circumstances, one can hardly complain.

Geelong's gesture is both humane and sporting and with no play last week due to the bye, they are at least entitled to get some game time into the players in contention for a spot in their AFL team.

The injuries at Melbourne and to a lesser extent at Casey will leave the Scorpions with no more than 10 or 11 AFL listed players which includes 3 rookies making their game today in the wet conditions, a very tough ask.

Radar shows the rain should be passing soon. Thank Huey for that! Cold enough as it is without being wet. Fuelling up now with a coffee before heading down for a beer, a Grouseburger ® and hopefully a good game.

Actually had physio this morning from a guy who grew up in Terang and knew Geordie Mc quite well. Said Geordie won all the school athletics comps for his age group. Played a lot of local footy with his older brother. Said his brother had trouble with kicking as well!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
