What about his post match interview when asked about when it started to get nasty with Selwood -"I love that [censored]". Put that on a t-shirt.

And the good news is that Jack is not alone in "loving that [censored]". We were as hard as them today and weren't intimidated when they tried to rough us up in the third term.

Watching the Stretch/Neal-Bullen interview and there is a whole group of younger players in this Club who don't carry any scars and believe in the process. They won't be easily swayed.

Then there is the likes of Hogan and Brayshaw who, to be honest, I'm probably most excited about since the arrival of Scwarz and Neitz. We will make the 8 next year

Hit & run.

Edit: Selwood- "WTF was that?- get the number - 7 - need that for the insurance claim" " Note to self - That Viney is a hard [censored], bring more tissues and bandages for next time, nah, might have general soreness next time."

Think he was actually thinking "but I ducked... how short is this beast?"

This is now my all-time favourite picture. It's perfect.

Needs some blood.

He played well for only having 1 leg!?

Viney doesn't need legs... they need him

Looks more like Ro Bail. Viney would've hit him hard & low & not got suckered by the inevitable duck of the head.

Viney is almost the forgotten man of our young brigade. Has looked good from game 1 but he has also steadily improved with each season, they way you expect it to be. 28 touches to Selwood's 16 is a complete annihilation. He's never going to be an elite kick but his decision making has definitely improved. I don't panic when he gets it anymore. Gun.

Not forgotten for me. He is quickly becoming a favourite player for me. The jobs he has been doing and winning more ball on "elite" players is outstanding. I think other coaches would rule the day he gets let off the leash from having a run with role.

You never know about his kicking - luckily it's a skill that can be taught compared with the aggression and mongrel that he has, which cannot be taught.

Nathan Jones struggled to hit a target early in his career and now he rarely wastes the ball. Plenty of time for Jack to work on that but bloody hell, I'm loving what he's producing so far. We'll have the best midfield in the league in 3 years, mark my words.

I think that picture was of Selwood after Dunn gave him a 'I won't be playing against WCE' shot to the guts...

His old man was a pretty ordinary kick early in his career. Jack is probably better at this stage than was Todd. But Todd worked and learned and ended up a fairly reasonable kick: not a bet your house on type, but quite reliable.

Without fear, and manic at the ball and the man .... that encapsulates Jack Viney's football prowess for me

Nothing in it ... Play on.

And to think that some people on here thought at the start of the year that his place in the team would be in jeopardy, and he'd be superceded by the next crop of young mids. Laughable. His appetite for the contest is 2nd to none at the club, and that's something you can't teach.

I don't remember anyone saying that. I certainly said his disposal needed to improve if he was going to make it. I stand by that, but I think he's improved it and continues to do so.

EDIT. But don't get me wrong. I love him.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
