Just watched the replay and saw 5 contested marks that he literally had in his hands, but couldn't hold onto. Not good enough for a ruckman - essentially our number one ruckman.

If he can start hanging on to those he'll make a huge leap forward in terms of ruckman quality. Thought his tapping has been excellent since coming in to the side and he gets involved around the ground. Clunk those marks and his value increases drastically.

Definitely. Gawn always looks creative with his taps, where as Jamar looks as though he's still trying to hit it to Moloney and Spencer doesn't seem to think about it much at all.

Can't understand the Grimes comment - thought he played a very good game

Yes chook,hes a gravedigger at best and i think so far this year he has earnt a quid and started to look like the player we expected.

One of the problems with Grimes is the fact that, being a small back, he is meant to be the one getting us out of sticky situations in the backline.

Instead, he and a couple of others start playing hot potato and we lose the drive and either take it over the boundary or rely on TMac or Dunn to rebound the ball. Not good enough. We missed Salem yesterday.

He is not clunking his marks but he is doing something that Jamar has not done in quite a few seasons - that's is get near the ball.

Gawn has involved himself the last two weeks and yes, he has dropped too many marks he should be taking. My problem with Jamar since his AA year is if he hasn't been contesting ruck situations he has spent the entire game being no where near where the ball is.

If ( and yes it is a big if ) Gawn can start holding marks he will be more than useful.

Really surprised / disappointed that Gawn hasn't marked well in the last 2 games. He has shown he can take the odd decent mark previously at AFL level in games gone by. But be has really stood out as a strong mark at times when playing forward at Casey.

He CAN mark and mark well. Just needs to bring that form to the big time games.
