Casey Scorpions v Coburg

You have to give credit to bail and jones for still giving their all to get a win for Casey. Still important they keep pressure on anyone who doesn't perform.

Was at the game today. Spencer ran hard all day,and Bail and Jones had plenty of it. Oscar McDonald was handy, and King had a blinder.

Not sure if anyone is an automatic in next week, but Jones and Bail put their hands up. King isn't ready just yet, got the better of his opponent today but he will be tested against the really good backman. Hopefully he can build on today's performance.

Interesting seeing Cale Morton running around.

Thoughts on how Harmes went Adzman?

King developing well could be absolutely huge for us.

Jones & Bail's numbers are a fair indicator of the gap between VFL & AFL standards and pace of game. Both unable to take the next step to impact in the big league so far.

To be fair, while I don't disagree with the above statement, they would play majority of their game time in the midfield when they're in the VFL hence the high possession numbers.

When they're called up to Melbourne side they're assigned specific roles, generally defensive forward roles and therefore don't get those numbers that people are expecting to translate from their VFL form.

King is only 19 years old, making this bag of 5 goals an ever greater achievement,. and stands at 200 cms if you dont mind

Why was Kennedy Harris playing in the development league?

coming back from injury - probably played 50% game time or something

Why was Kennedy Harris playing in the development league?

My theory is he would've been on restricted minutes. With 4 bigs in the Seniors - King, Dawes, Spencer, Jamar - it wouldn't have been smart to have a guy sitting on the bench after using up his minutes.

Playing JKH in the D League allows us to play King in the seniors as a [censored] for tat by doing the right thing by Casey.

Thoughts on how Harmes went Adzman?

Harmes played well.No doubt he is someone to watch. Had more of an influence than McKenzie and seems to read the play well.

Whats his outside game like? We seem to have a lot of inside mids

King has great skill for a tall man. Shows real talent. I'm sure the club has a long-term view.

Every club wants a 'forward ruck' as opposed to a 'ruck forward' for that second up role and King should develop into a Hale type.

Great to see Casey get the win, and also great to hear King play well. Will obviously want to see him do it a few times before he is in the seniors, and who knows the quality of the defender he had given Dawes and presumably Spencer/Jamar were down there too, but exciting times.

He won't be in number 47 next year if he keeps this form up.

Why not? What's wrong with 47?

Good to feel we are on the right track.

Thanks for the updates, KC et al. Great to hear!

I'd like to think we have more than a year left in Vince.

Interesting that King bagged 5 but not mentioned in the official best list.

KC or others - did he do much else than kick those goals? And forward ruck work?

Also interested in comments on

- Dawes

- OMcD

Thanks

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
