Actually Buckley said on AFL360

That after the fourth goal in a row he put Oxley as the spare.

One on one prior to that.

...and???

It's not that simple with the way the midfield, rotations and zones go. We were pushing numbers back into defence, they took one of their's and pushed him as a spare into our forward line.

Viney's having his breakout year. 3 games is a small sample size, but if it weren't for the injury he'd probably be one of the stars of the comp by now

I'm not saying you did this intentionally, but why is it that everyone is so quick to jump on mistakes by the likes of Fitzy, Watts and Dunn, yet everyone seems to have pushed Viney's dud kick directly to an opposition player 15 metres out dead in front that resulted in a goal, to the back of their minds?

Not excusing that dud kick, but in Viney's defense, Vince's handball was behind him and resulted in him losing his forward momentum and getting tackled.

This is a classic case where the statistics don't tell the full story, he was timid and didn't hurt the opposition. This was clear for us at the game, not those just looking at the stats sheet. His handpass backwards to Gawn (while himself in the clear) was a clear example of this but it will just be measured as an "effective disposal".

He was played on Sidebottom who had no influence and along with Vince's job on Pendlebury was one of the main reasons we got the upper hand in the midfield

Stuff knows, old dee. The Sainters will be licking their lips just as much; obviously one group will walk away disappointed.

Not saying to pencil us in for a win, I just reckon to have already decided we won't is just silly.

I think we can but if you look at the two sides form they are similar.

If we cannot win this then we have not improved as much as I think we have.

A loss is a major setback.

I think at the start of the season most would have had this as a win I did.

Most would have had the Pies as a loss.

4 and 7 at the half way mark of the season would be a good result considering where we have come from in 2012/3.

who knew a toe could be so troublesome. Can't we just cut it off?

Frosty was looking like an excellent pick up for us early on. I throw him, Kent and Salem in the "what a bloody shame" basket, for they were looking awesome this season.

Sadly I am near 8 weeks since a toe operation and should be in a moon boot for another 6 weeks ...

Seems like one of those fickle injuries where you can't be too cautious.

Better to get him right for a long career with the Dees!

Toumpas did not play on Sidebottom...It was Cross!!

Season over see you in 2016

Thank christ Viney is fine as I reckon he'll have a huge job this Sunday - quelling the in-form Jack Steven.

I'd also imagine Bernie will go head-to-head with Armitage.

The interesting one is whether Tom Mc dramatic loss of form means he will get Nick Riewoldt again - I suspect he will.

All the Saints would have watched us on Monday and with an extra day off, they'll be pumped to beat us.

Then there's the fact that it is at Etihad.

Not good signs but I still reckon that we can win - provided Riewoldt doesn't dominate.

Fit for need

Newton gets a reprieve this week, better show something. I agree with h_h's changes

Me either, but prefer Riley as the sub.

He's in the Blease league of tanks.

Yeah thats true, would start ANB actually and have psycho Pig Dog come in as sub to smash some Saint skulls

Newton is fortunate that VandenBerg and Garland are out injured. He was downright pedestrian. I think everyone is too busy criticising Fitzpatrick, Watts and Toumpas to notice how poor he was.

We would have been handed the vest is Vanders hadn't have done his hammy.

Grimes has to come in for Garland, and Tyson is automatic. ANB or Viv to replace Jones.

Both rumours were seperately mentioned on SEN. I dont think there has been a week where there hasn;t been an unpleasant surprise compared to the published injury list.

And Garland is this weeks surprise injury with a broken hand and surgery before the injury list is published but still not on the list. Salem also confirmed as doing his other hammy before this was published. I dont know why they bother publishing it.

You'd think unlikely ANB will start....Roos's path invariably gets him (ANB) the 'welcome' jacket !!

Viney's having his breakout year. 3 games is a small sample size, but if it weren't for the injury he'd probably be one of the stars of the comp by now

Not sure about that. I love him in the team, but his disposal is ordinary. He hasn't improved it. His old man (who I loved) struggled with disposal efficiency throughout his entire career. I hope Jack can rectify this area of his game.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
