Fair point, Gawn should have told him to turn around becase he was clear. Still, good players have the awareness and know what is around them before they even get the ball.

I agree with both points and I also think it is something that can come, if he can continue to improve and show games like WB and Collingwood then he will have a spot on our list and I think he has a really good foundation to improve from if his effort is going to be of this level consistently.

True, but good teams communicate and trust each other.

Re Toumpas -

He did not tunnel ball the sherrin through the goals.

He did not kick it straight to A Collngwood player as Dunn and Viney did

He did not let Elliot outmark him in the goalsquare - 2 players 195cms did that

I get as frustrated as anyone with him but he is worth persevering with.

He needs to take a look at Brayshaw and be prepared to back himself.

The (hilariously...) funny thing is - as the French(?) poster above alludes - we win that game if we don't make some of the most laughable mistakes with and without the footy, from seasoned AFL players who should know better (and a couple that wouldn't know better...).

But to lump it most of that at the feet of a(nother) scapegoat in Toumpas is unfair.

The hardest part of footy is getting it - he is starting to come out of his shell and I like his instincts to spread - we need that.

I think most people are blaming Roos for the loss, who in turn is blaming the players.

Love what Roosy has and is doing...and love his pull in the media. Love the respect with which he is held and that he came here in the first place. But....to say " the players dont listen" like he had didnt have any power in the box and via runners is dumb.

He did play on Steele Sidebottom and limit his influence

How are we dropping Toumpas? How?????

Vanders will miss and hopefully that is the only change we will need to make (for Tyson).

St Kilda go tall in the backline so Fitzy will stay.

Not a big M Jones fan but sub awaits him again

Agree with everything except for Jones, he's been gifted enough games and simply isn't good enough. I used to be a fan, but no longer.

Give ANB a debut and the green vest.

I think most people are blaming Roos for the loss, who in turn is blaming the players.

At the start of every game CB the players are the only ones who can produce a win.

Coaches get the sack when players don't win enough games.

But on game day it is not the coach who tunnel balls, kicks to the opposition 15 metres from gaol or hand passes to a team mate surrounded by the opposition or tries to do too much and gets caught with the ball.

But the coach should see at centre bounces when the opposition has a loose man in defence and we have a loose man in defence, yet each time no player is moved to stop that player loose in our defence.

Players get the sack too, they also can get dropped.

Coaches are responsible for our tactics, communication, and organization, so to have a strategy fail like Oxley yesterday is on Roos, not the players.

dunno, but it was mentioned a few times on the radio. larkins thought so

If the news is good dc we will hear ten minutes after the result.

If not mission will take a while to work out a time frame.

Should I use 2 -4

4-6 or test this week.

Pretty sure Daniel Cross played on Sidebottom until the last quarter when Buckley sent him to Jones.

Who would Fitzy line up on this week?

Tom Hickey/Billy Longer as the resting ruck would be my pick.

Why Pedo out? Tries his guts out and takes more marks and kicks more goals than Dawes, so why would you swap them?

Just thought he's struggled the last two weeks. Certainly dropped as far as score board impact goes.

Dawes has had a good period of time t get himself right now. He and Hogan could dwarf the St Kilda backs this weekend.

Old iron hands you have to be joking

He was judged to be still injured last weekend and could not play for Casey he has now been out for four weeks.

He has a calf problem that has keep him out for multiple weeks in the past

Add his form was poor before the injury

He comes back via Casey for mine but I am not sure he will be fit to play anywhere next weekend.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
