Can we not, please. I don't want his bald mongo head or his anorexic wife near our club. We're suffered enough.

He's also stated numerous times he has no interest. It's a non issue.

This thread run its course then?

It was still drama for Melbourne.

I remember the night before he announced where he was going Brian Taylor announced at a function that he was going to Melbourne. Then of course we were told the same thing by his grandmother.

We should draft his grandma

Did he go to the team offering the biggest contract or the team who could offer the best trade to the Eagles? Most suspect the Blues deal was sealed before his 4 club roadshow. Certainly with the added Visy dollars none of the other clubs were in the ballpark dollars wise. So he retires a wealthier man than if he'd gone to the Hawks or the Pies but that has come at the cost of winning more flags. In his prime he was brilliant to watch. Could win the ball inside and turbo out of a pack and keep on running. Even last year he could still turn a quarter for the Blues despite his body failing him.

Wow, I only just opened this thread now, and I'm truly surprised by the amount of angst against a champion of the game that has retired injured.

Pleasantly surprised. Great read.

Pull your head in.

He was a champion player and a champion leader.

Champion player, very good leader, sneaky thug. Don't speak ill of the dead, but he's only retired.

Interesting with your avatar !

He was a champion player and a champion leader.

First part of that is right. He was nowhere near a leader. Not sure if you noticed the WCE drug problem? Or some similar issues at Carlton with Fev Levi Casboult etc. All under his watch.

Judd is a lone wolf. Champion player but no interest in him at our club - and why would he want to by the way?

The drug issue was there before Judd arrived and was a deep rooted issue at that club. He was a kid when he got there.

Every club has it's own bad eggs. Are you saying Neitz was a bad leader because he couldn't inspire a work ethic for players like Sylvia?

You're basically calling Judd a bad leader because he couldn't curb the behaviour of certain troubled players which is a pretty narrow view.

Speak to any player at Carlton and ask how influential he has been as captain.

Lots of rumours at the time but one of those stories was that Judd was so concerned about the illicit drug taking of players that he told the club that he would not stay at the club if it continued. That the club had to take action to stop it. They did nothing, so he left.

So many sad and sour Melbourne supporters.

Calling Judd a coward.

Haha.

He was a champion player and a champion leader.

So eye gouging, sorry "pressure points", and the chicken wing incident on defenseless players were not cowardly acts?

I can't believe how many people are still holding a grudge against Judd because he didn't come to Melbourne SEVEN YEARS ago.

In case anybody has forgotten we were an absolute basket case on and off the field at the time, and couldn't attract players of any quality to the club, let alone (arguably) the best player in the game.

We couldn't have afforded his salary either legitimately or illegitimately, and certainly couldn't have given West Coast appropriate compensation. No decent player in their right mind would have wanted to come to a club with third world facilities, a divided board and conflicted football department.

He was never coming to us, and I never understood why people were getting their panties in a bunch at the prospect.

I doubt we will ever see him have a meaningful role in the AFL, perhaps outside the AFL commission, as he has well and truly set himself up for life after football. That said, if he did express interest in a coaching / mentoring role, we would be stupid not to consider him for a position.

That's exactly the way i heard it.

The Visy job was locked in well before he got to Victoria

At least now he can work for Visy full time give them value for money considering the wage his family has been paid.

Jesus, this thread is a disgrace and should be locked.

I know Juddy personally, he is a mate, an unbelievably good bloke and a legend of our sport. I am disappointed he did not come to the Dees, truth is if we had our house in order he would have. Get over it!!!!!!

Juddy will not be going into full time media or full time coaching. He is over the fish bowl of the AFL and has built and impressive business portfolio. Mark my words you will only be reading about Juddy in the future will be in business pages of the papers.

I remember hearing those rumours at the start of 2007, by the end of 2007 he was gone.

Yeah, nah, He is not a leader for mine. Great player but in the leadership stakes isn't a patch on Selwood, Hodge, Boak, Reiwoldt etc

When you look at Nathan Jones and his 'coaching' of Gus I have never seen Juddy do that with Murphy, Gibbs etc

You're welcome to your opinion but I disagree.

Dumbest post in a long time. Grow up.

Oh please. I make at least 5 dumber posts than this a week. I'm hurt you haven't noticed.

If you are Juddy's mate, you're in a good position to ask him about his vicious attacks on opponents.

I admit that I'm possibly over-influenced by an interest in eye injury( my line of work).

But I'd like you to ask Chris, who undoubtedly is an intelligent and well educated bloke, whether he has any regrets about screwing his thumbs into another player's eyeballs. Not many other players do this. Has he any concept of "duty of care"?

Does he remember Nick Walsh.?

What was the real story about the "pressure points"?

I wonder if I'm alone in my opinion that he and Matthews are the two most reprehensible thugs I've seen on a footy field.

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
