Out: M Jones (inj/omit), Bail (omit), Newton (didn't play that bad...Need space for Jetta)

I know I was harsh in the post match discussion on Toumpas.

Just watched the replay and he has taken a step forward.

Still has more work to do at this level tho. No use dropping him now.

Let us see who is fit to play first. Today's group I'd very well, who knows those we think are automatic 22 may not be?

Toump, Fitz, Pedo and Grimes need more games.

Dawes, bail and MJones not so much.

Newton/Bail/MJones may be in mix to make way for Viney/tyson/Jetta if they are fit.

I'd rest Brayshaw, and drop m.jones and bail

Bring in Viney, Jetta, Tyson

I suspect M Jones will be out for the concussion week. Given the fact that we won that could be the only out. Bring in Tyson or Jetta for him.

Outs.

M.Jones

Rohan Bail

Bert Newton

In

Viney

Jetta

Tyson

really? If he needs it then sure, but...really?:

Angus Brayshaw collected 11 last-quarter disposals to help will his side to victory, showcasing the grunt and competitiveness which prompted the Dees to use last year’s No. 3 pick on him.

Outs.

M.Jones

Rohan Bail

Bert Newton

Viney

Jetta

Tyson

There's an echo in here...... in here........ in here........

Seems sensible. Brayshaw is clearly contributing but we want to keep getting the most out of him all season and career.

Those are some good 'ins' to be considering.

Naughty naught Grimes and Toumpas going and making it all a hard decision all of a sudden!

I think Roos said there may be a few changes given a 6 day break.

Wonder how Spencer pulls up - don't want to rest him after today - Gawn played well tho

Hmmm. Is Tyson an automatic in? We need run against Port. I guess he comes back and so does Viney. Both could play as much half forward. Vanders goes to half forward I guess. Toumpas as well. Riley is a pretty one dimensional sub in a team that has plenty of inside midfield options but not a lot of outside run versatility.

FB: Jetta Fitzy!! Dunn

HB: Garland McDonald Grimes

C: Lumumba Jones Tyson

HF: Brayshaw Pedo Toumpas

FF: Garlett Hogan Watts

Foll: Spencer Viney Vince

Int: Howe vandenBerg Cross
S: Riley
E: Newton Strech Harmes

I'd say if Tyson isn't 100% then we give him another week and play Newton instead. Otherwise then yes I think Newton is the unlucky out. Same goes for Jetta or Viney.

If more than 1 of those guys aren't ok then I think next in line for selection are Stretch, Harmes and Neal-Bullen. I'd have those 3 ahead of Bail and M Jones.

Was looking very fatigued all night

No need to rest him with the bye not all too far off.

He could be the sub though. Unless he was sore, then the same thing applies as with Hogan. All depends how he's feeling.

Playing him at half forward so much is his rest!

Brayshaw was looking fatigued all night? After pushing on and running the game out with 11 touches in the last quarter I'm making the assumption your idea of fatigue is different to mine.

He did push hard in that last quarter although a few of his kicks did fall short.

Just seemed to lack a bit of his usual grunt/speed as well.

I'd be tempted to use Viney as a sub and put Pig Dog on for a bigger run at it. Was very impressed with his desparation and attack on the ball and the ball carrier. Great work.

Is it just me or should Viney return via Casey for just the one game?

I want fully fit players that can run out the game from start to finish.

I read this on Bigfooty, where surprisingly many are tipping us to beat Port

"Melbourne Vs Port Adelaide 43pts - Paul Roos was one of the first coaches to figure out our gameplan and only now has the rest of the competition adapted to his findings. What he may further have in store is frightening. They almost pipped us twice last year even when we had most of our best team in. Loss of trengove we have a poor record aswell as the flair of Hogan. It's not going to be good for port."

I bet Vanders can't wait for the bye either. Looked spent whenever he came to the bench. He might be mature, but he's still a first year player.

Viney, Jetta and Tyson are automatic ins if fit.

Bail, M Jones definite outs and maybe Brayshaw gets a week off from the travel and humidity and gets fresh to take on Collingwood.

Would rather keep him protected from stress injuries.

Grimes, Fitzy and Spencer earned their keep.

No. He is coming off a good base.

If the leg is good he's in. We can hardly afford to let him waste time at Casey.

In: Viney, Jetta, Tyson, pending fitness

Out: Bail, M Jones, Riley

I remember a bloke by the name of Robert Harvey, who looked spent after every contest, but you would have to say he had a fair career wouldnt you?

I say keep playing him for the time being. He looks fine to me.

KEEP NEWTON IN THE TEAM.....

Ex players have an uncanny ability of playing at a higher level than normal against former clubs and he might have a point to prove after being traded after not being able to get a game....

Just a thought, but probably worth a punt....

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca

The superstar Demon midfielder made a successful return to the fold after his devastating injury last year and the subsequent fallout from the treatment he received, during which time he sought to depart the club. Petracca's professionalism and strong play, both in the midfield and up forward, were outstanding and resulted in him being runner-up in the club's best and fairest count. However, early this week, the club's new CEO, Paul Guerra, confirmed that the under-contract Petracca has again requested a trade, adding that he would only be allowed to leave for a “quality offer that turns our head". No doubt some Demon heads are already spinning.
