Delistings/trades at end of the season

Do we know that? McRae isn't a once in a generation KPF.

You're clutching at straws now. If the Hogan comparison doesn't do it for you, then liken him to Brayshaw. We wouldn't consider any offers. Neither would they. They aren't trading away a kid who has shown plenty and only spent a few years in the system.

Get Jack McRae. Gun. Okay, so he might have defensive deficiencies, but they can be worked on. Absolute ball magnet. Luke hasn't been playing him much at the Dogs. We should be approaching him now with a nice little package.

I don't know about Macrae, but the Bulldogs are simply NOT going to be able to hold all their young players.

Tom Boyd is taking a huge slice of the pie today and into the future, after Peter Gordon signed him up, when the captain and coach were removed.

So how do they keep Bontempelli, Macrae, Wallis, Wood, Liberatore, Stringer, Hrovat, Talia and Picken happy on the list and under the cap?

Like we have seen at GWS over the past couple of years, when Scully hogged all the salary cap.

There will be some good players who have to be released.

Mckenzie definite,Terlich possible( lightning may strike twice),Bail and Matt Jones could be safe due to their "back up value"……. experienced reserves. Fitzy or Spencer to go…. both are up and down. Jamar not safe.

Grimes definite,Trengove to stay,if he gets back to his best may make a useful defender.Forget the physicoligal ploy to [censored] him off last year.Toumpas possible may be replaced by HARMES or HUNT. Howe rumoured to go the way as Stef Martin,

Watts might go,just too soft for AFL footy,ROOSY loves him.Garland could be up for trade only as a slim chance.

I'm not sure of the contract status of most of our players, but the list changes end of year look to me like -

Retirements;

Mark Jamar

Delistings;

Rohan Bail

Aiden Riley

Viv Michie

Jordie Mckenzie

Dean Terlich

Question Marks;

Dean Kent

Matt Jones

Jack Fitzpatrick

The unfortunate fact for these guys is that you can cut this entire group without affecting our match-day performance.

Some still have a chance to prove themselves, and in what is rumoured to be a weak draft the club might persevere rather than start fresh with draftees.

A 5 or 6 player 'churn' is pretty appropriate for a club still looking to develop their list.

Love your work ENYAW. As usual it is like a rare wine - to be savoured and considered in all its subtlety - not judged on an initial start of the palate response.

Watching Yarran play today....I definitely wouldn't mind him at the dees

Playing against the worst team in the comp. No thanks.

Well, hang on. The Brayshaw one doesn't work for me either, because he's played every game. McRae hasn't been getting games.

bennell and charlie dixon both on the market i'm lead to believe.

personally i don't think they're worth that much - the former is unpredictable on and off the field, and the latter is predictable in that he can't stay ON the field for more than about two games in a row before he breaks down with injury.

both are, however, super talents.

our first rounder (4-7), third rounder (38-43) plus howe for both of them and gc17's second rounder (18-20).

even that would make me nervous that gc17 would actually be the 'winner'.

I'd certainly take Dixon, but the injury history is a concern.

Well pretty much answers everything now.

Mate Macrea played 21 games last year and then has missed 2 games this year due to being dropped to the 2s to work on his defensive efforts.

To say he hasn't been getting games is laughable.. Macrea will be a star of the comp along with Brayshaw.

He's been dropped to the reserves in order to work on some deficiencies a handful of times. Like many young players.

Saying he hasn't been getting games is just a silly thing to say.

As for Yarran. He's proven that when he plays at his potential, he's an extremely damaging and great player.

That's it mate, move the goal posts. What next? Not happy with a comparison because they wear different coloured boots? Different breakfast cereals?

Face facts - your idea that we should 'give them something to think about' is way off the mark, as what we would need to give to do that would be way above what anyone here would be happy with. Macrae isn't going anywhere.

I've followed Bennell closely this year (he's in my Dreamteam) and his workrate and consistency have been unquestionable. As for the off-field incidents, I don't think that any of them were hangable offences, and were minor compared to Jeff Garlett's. He's the sort of mid that we're lacking. And I'd take Dixon in a heartbeat. The deal you've proposed is a massive win for us.

How does Bennell work for everyone? ;)

Realistically, to get Bennell youd have to give our first rounder and Howe in all likelihood.

DA, as Django said, quality ball users out of the backline are just as important as a quality mid. Sure, use our high draft pick on a quality mid, but trade for a quality creative backman. It's an area that we've struggled with for years.

Quality creative back men....Salem being one?? Is it something we should be trading for? Who were you thinking? Would we be better off just developing a mid into our other back flanker? Look at the likes of Hodge/Mitchell/Burgoyne, it's all about versatility, those three can play mid or back flank depending on the game/match ups.

Salem Tmac "quality creative back"

Just keep picking up/developing mids. Stevie J, Chappy, Bartell, Enright, Corey, Kelly we're all drafted as mids who also played either on a fwd or back flank.

I think the idea is possibly trading a late 1st rounder/early 2nd rounder from a Howe trade for the likes of Yarran or Trent McKenzie. Drafted mids in that region can still be hit or miss.

Playing against the worst team in the comp. No thanks.

Still, how many players on our list can play like him, regardless of the opposition?
