The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!

A lot of commentators now talking up a tie. Two chairs setup in the press conference room.

Yep, they've orchestrated a tie I reckon.

I don't think it's impossible to think that they'll want to speak to both Cripps and Hogan afterwards, especially if it is a close finish. Hogan to win it.

Bloody fantastic. So well deserved

Congrats to both Hogan as winner and Brayshaw for placing.

Bodes well :)

Nice to win something.

Joins Jared Rivers in the pantheon of Melbourne of Rising Star winners.

9/10 judges giving him 5 votes. Worthy winner. Congrats Jesse.

'Shifter' Sheehan the only judge awarding Cripps 5 votes.

As predicted, the meltdowns of Carlton supporters across Bigfooty, Twitter and Facebook are absolutely delightful.

Well done, Jess. You've made us proud.

Congratulations Jesse. This is just a small token to give you a taste of the esteem the competition will hold you in over the next decade or so. We will look on in awe as you lead the red and blue charge to the top of the mountain!

ON YA HULLLLLLLKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

please don't leave us

Two MFC players in the top five, nice.

Wel done boys.

In the interview (paraphrasing a bit, was listening in the car):

"We want blokes who are really competitive... <something about talent> ... and you can see it in the eyes of the young guys - they just want to win. We've made a few mistakes in the past"

I just wonder (not wanting to throw fuel on fires) if he was talking about some of his teammates with talent but not the burning desire...

If anyone has a link to his interview after the award, that would be great

It actually makes him winning just that little bit sweeter

The bitter tears of Carlton fans is like sweet sweet wine for the soul of Melbourne fans!

Hogan Wins.

Demonland goes into meltdown

What a day. Well done Jesse!

You're not kidding. Look at the posting times attributed to some of the above. A couple are recorded as being posted after 10.00 pm tonight.

Hulk here is the blank cheque.

What a good news story for him and the club with Brayshaw as well.

Loved his mark on the weekend running back across the pack and not stopping to goal.

Can they give me tonight's Tattslotto numbers?

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
