FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

Featured Replies

Would much rather give him the 1.4 than Melksham.

Yes. At least we can be 100% certain that he wasn't "performance enhanced" in 2015

Dermott Brereton was saying on radio that Howe is looking for big money way above his worth. Also said if he ever managed to get to a good club they would play him in the reserves for about six weeks in an effort to change his ways before getting a senior gig. There is a possibility we may be stuck with him

Lets hope he gets it....... (compo pick)

On Howe, am seeing on FB that Trade Radio are reporting GC's interest in Howe. Scott Clayton keen

Lets hope they can find common ground

Howe

Or how not

Not against keeping Howe. It's really about the dollars.

If we have a competitive midfield Howe playing in a forward line with Hogan, Garlett, Petraca, Kent for mine Howe would be a handful for an opponent. But that role ain't a top dollar role.

.

It's got nothing to do with the dollars, it's all about the compensation.

Howe to gcs

Smith to efc

Melksham to mfc

keep our second rounder

Howe isn't really a defender, isn't really a forward, and certainly isn't a midfielder at the moment.

Personally I think he should be a dangerous tall midfielder, with the valuable bonuses of being able to take intercept marks as part of midfield defence or to drift forward and mess with match-up structures.

I think his main limitation at the moment is his inability to grasp that he isn't 'there' yet at a player. He clearly believes, perhaps with an irresponsible manager whispering in his ear, that he is already a star of the game and Melbourne aren't 'appreciating' him enough and that's the only reason he doesn't do better.

When the finger comes out, he could well be worth 650k a year, but right now it is hard to justify 400k.

Sounds as though the Suns have legit interest in Howe... I guess that's not exactly ground breaking as they have always been linked, but this is the first time they have come out and stated their interest.

If Howe does decide to go I'd be interested in what we could get for him.

His main limitation is that he doesn't run both ways. He's a downhill skier of the worst kind. Roos played him in defence to try and get his head around being responsible for an opponent but it didn't work.

Suns pick 24 (2nd round choice) for Howe (??)

Fat chance, we'll want their end of first round activated concession pick.

That pick 19 sounds way better than pick 22 if we were to trade it out

First rounder, Dawes, Howe, Toumpas and Watts to Gold Coast.

Dixon to Port.

Melksham to Melbourne.

Not sure if sarcastic, but your point (if serious) is well made in such a shallow draft.

Pick 19 vs the second rounder for Gold Coast could be the difference between pick 19 and pick 22-26 depending on FA compo. Dangerfield, Selwood, Leuenberger, Suckling and Grant could all get band 1-3 compo depending on which club the AFL wants to help out. In a weak draft, a ~6 pick downgrade means a hell of a lot more than most years.

Remind me to never allow you near a trade table.

Howe must really be desperate for money.

Going to a club that finished below us on the ladder and relocating his life. Again.

Glad we are sticking by our deal. Do not overpay players who don't deserve it. We need all the worlds money for Hogan. All. Of. The. Monies.

I'm a bit befuddled as to why so many people want Howe out. Seems to me whenever he plays well, we play well. Must have finished in our top 10 in the b&f over the past couple of years. Clearly his asking price is the issue. I'm a bit a flat about the whole thing

Or is that when we play well - he plays well...

There is a difference.

Really? You couldn't see the sarcasm in his post?

You're right. I forgot to bundle in Hogan to Essendon! I should send my CV to the club.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and hope, nay pray, Barney was just playing along.
