Although I must admit I was a little shattered with Mitch's actions as I thought his retirement and return was premeditated and lowered his trade value to Melbourne and he wasn't described as our highest paid player but a guy returning from retirement.... I moved on!!!

How can you be "a little shattered?" Have you ever seen a window that was just a little shattered? I don't think so.

Players owe clubs nothing as it's all business

You are right, it is a business for those getting paid, but for us supporters, it is more about emotion than business. Why else would you follow a team that has lived at in the cellar for so long ??? That is why we get upset when a player, especially a good one, leaves under somewhat false pretences.

He doesn't owe the club anything regardless of what people on here think. Melbourne would flick him if it didn't suit us so why what does he owe the club.

Yes he was injured and we were paying him but that's a known issue with football contracts and can happen to anyone

Look what we were happy to do to trengove despite his loyalty!!!!

I disagree in a way, take for example a Daniel Cross or Shannon Byrnes, people who are given an opportunity by a club to further their careers, don't they owe the club something in return? Daniel Cross has given our club heaps in return for our investment, Byrnes unfortunately didn't have as much of an impact!

Seen plenty of windscreens just trip ?

When it first happens I was a little annoyed as I think there was some deceit there but still it doesn't matter as it's a two way street

No they owe are nothing...

Melbourne didn't say gees that Byrnes bloke is a good fella let's give him a contract because he's a good bloke.

Melbourne thought he would provide something and offered him a contract accordingly thus he owes nothing but that contract as when he wasn't up to it Melbourne were happy to cut him

I get it... I love this club and completely understand why we have a vested interest ... it's never going to change but players aren't like that and they are moving further away from loyalty so everyone needs to stop potting players that leave as we can't have an ability to kick trenners to the curb then cry when a player leaves

Most people on here wouldn't be telling there boss they are searching for a new job until they found it so why do we get upset with players looking around... Football is there life and after ready this training camp where they have to cook for themselves as a challenge they live in a bubble

We didn't cut him, he retired! Also we have re-engaged him through Casey as a playing coach where he will continue to be a mentor for half our list. All in all, a Win-Win for both Byrnes and the MFC if it works as I suspect it might. As steak knives it should also help Casey climb back up the ladder this year!

Maybe Crossy feels like he owes the club something for giving him a contract, and he is repaying that by training his arse off and playing selfless football.

Clarke's a dog.

Thats all I'll add to the matter.

And so it starts?

"GEELONG has been dealt a preseason blow with Steve Johnson, Mitch Clark and Nathan Vardy suffering minor injury setbacks.

The Cats yesterday revealed Johnson would be given time off to overcome soreness in his troublesome right foot, while Clark hurt his calf at training.

...

Clark has had his training load reduced after suffering a calf strain, with the Cats acting conservatively with former Demon. The 27-year-old, who joined the Cats in last year's trade period after changing his mind on his April retirement, is on a modified program after sustaining the injury."

If you're using that word 'dog' as an insult I've got a couple of border collies who'd like to talk to you.

Saw the article on the News yesterday that the White house is disposing of rugs that were mistakenly produced with an error

"IN DOG WE TRUST" maybe you can put in an offer......... or your dogs might?

This belongs in the "cliches that should be banned on this site" thread.

It's one of the reasons the game is being lost to what once were hard core supporters that believed loyalty extended between player, club and team mates. The same loyalty should extend to the members and fans and in this instance it clearly hasn't.

Clark played like a man possessed on many occasions and we were all very impressed by that. However, the deceit and back-flipping has left a sour taste in most supported mouths, from most clubs.

Loyalty is considerably underrated.

Strained a calf already, according to Jay Clark's twitter.

Nothing in this. Don't believe everything you hear, especially if it comes out of Jay Clark's mouth.

A great sense of schadenfreude has hit Demonland

The fact that Clark quit before ever playing a game in the same forward line as Dawes is what most bugs me more than anything.

Depression, wanting to move to a club in flag contention: okay yes, they are reasons to move on. But just give it a try, another year to run on the heavily funded contract it surely wasn't too much to ask.

But he left and the way he did so, I don't have much respect for Clark. I'm thinking we got glimpses of what Fremantle and Brisbane saw before us.

I'd say he's going to do well at Geelong if his injuries can be minimalised, it's really going to suck seeing him in the same forward line as Tomahawk before ever getting to see him play alongside Dawes or Hogan.

All I can do is hope the we succeed. I don't hope that Clark fails; that just makes me a nasty, small minded person. What I do hope for is that we rise above the selfish, duplicitous manipulative nonsense the club has been exposed to and thrash the pants off the cats when we next see them.

And I hope that Clark is unable to play ever again and retires friendless and alone.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
