Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

The Senior List Jigsaw Puzzle

I'll be really disappointed if we don't use 40 and 53.

It's easy to get a fresh injection of hope around this time of year with trades and early draft picks, but the fact is the list is very ordinary and the midfield is still a massive hole. A 31 year old Western Bulldogs discard led our B&F after 8 rounds and probably would have won it but for a broken leg.

We look like adding a talented kid into the middle in Brayshaw but he can't be expected to do much in there next year. The other early pick looks like it will be a key forward, Lamumba and Garlett will only provide brief cameos around the contests, and Billy Stretch could get a ride this week at Flemington so I doubt we'll see him in 2015.

We must give McCartney and Roos two more talented, young genuine midfielders with 40 and 53. Taylor is a highly regarded recruiter brought across on what I imagine would be pretty decent money - he should be able to find a couple of decent prospects with these picks.

IMO Tapscott has to go, and given that McKenzie seems to be an extremely popular clubman and really hardworker, it's Evans who has to be paid out for mine.

Who will have to be delisted? If it's Jetta I don't think he is on the senior list. If he is, someone then needs to be delisted and maybe another, for us to use our 4 picks. That is without a DFA or PSD 2.

I wasn't clear before.

If Trengove is to be moved off the Primary List for us to use ND53 or PSD2, he is going to have to be delisted and placed on the Rookie List through the Rookie Draft.

I am assuming Tapscott is delisted to allow ND40.

Hope something happens with our list in the next 24 hours or I will be dissapointed

So will I.

I refuse to believe that there are not better prospects out there, than our bottom of the list players.

I think Tapscott has had his chances, JT we have spoken about and even Evans can be delisted and rookied.

Collingwood's Tony Armstrong and Gold Coast's Greg Broughton both delisted but their respective clubs have committed to picking them up in the Rookie Draft.

Then there's Cameron Delaney, delisted by North Melbourne:

North Melbourne delists key defender Cam Delaney

North Melbourne will be forced to pick up key defender Cameron Delaney as a rookie or else pay him out for another year after he was one of eight Kangaroos delisted on Friday.

Delaney, 22, is contracted for 2015. He has been restricted to just six games in four years since joining the Roos, with just one in 2013 and none in 2014 as a result of an ongoing issue with his left big toe. Delaney underwent his second operation to repair the toe.

Fairfax Media understands that Delaney - now a free agent - would be likely to accept deal from another club, but that the significant medical risk attached to him could act as a deterrent.

So let me get this straight. The process is that we can delist a contracted player but pick them up in the rookie draft on the same wage? Meanwhile, other clubs could pick them up ahead of us in that draft or delisted free agency? If this is the case, surely Mckenzie and Evans go to the rookie list ahead of Trengove if there's even a small risk of another club's interference. We know Evans and Mckenzie are done, but even if he's got a long road ahead of him, Trengove still offers something.

Evans and McKenzie offer way more than Trengove IMO

They both have two good feet, that is a hell of a start.

So because McKENZIE is a good bloke crap footballer we keep him. It's because we have so many NQR players on our list like him, Matt Jones, Terlich, Riley, etc we will never get better.

I wouldn't put Riley in there. I liked what I saw with him later in the season especially after coming off a broken leg

No one will take JT with his injury and hefty contract.

I thought you'd be arguing for his delisting because after trying to trade him to Richmond isn't he "finished" with us?

Why keep him on the list?

It's my cardboard stalker...

You are not quoting me are you, as you admitted you are quoting a paraphrased post from Deestroy All.

But if you don't think that the relationship between club and player has changed, just look at the recent article on the afl website about Trengove realising more than ever before it is a business.

Has the relationship changed irrevocably? No.

But we were trying to offload him a ND he wanted to go and that is quite the rubicon.

So would you delist him?

He might be of more use on the PL as I just explained in another thread as an injured player that will allow any RL player to play from Rd1.

If Newton arrives we would need to delist a contracted player to use ND40. I would delist Evans or McKenzie and then pass on ND53 and use RD2 on a player targeted with ND53 (there will only be about 15 live selections difference between those two). I would draft Evans or McKenzie with RD20 and tell Tapscott that footy can be tough sometimes.

There are a few ways to go and each avenue has its pitfalls and pluses.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
