Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off

That age article seems to debunk the Beams to dees dream.

Why? Collingwood said the 5 way trade fell over and they are no longer talking to the Lions and are entertaining other offers for Beams if he's willing to go elsewhere.

Are beams and lumumba close and If the former is part of the later leaving will It cause friction.

While you never know with footy clubs, Beams and Lumumba being close doesn't exactly have a Yin-Yang feel to it

Could be an unlikely Mel Gibson-Danny Glover type friendship.

Can't remember where I heard/read it but I was under the impression Beams was sympathetic to the issues Lamumba had with the club, even agreeing that infamous gay slur poster was inappropriate.

Somebody mentioned that we are planning to use pick 12 for Jake Lever. Not that l object to this as a replacement for Chip but what happened to plans for Oscar McDonald or were there none? With all the trading , FS used for Billy and Jetta upgrade, will we have any live picks in the draft apart from 1, 2 & 12?

If we're getting rid of Trengove and pick 23 for Jake Lever, i'll be very frustrated.

If that's the case, I have grossly misjudged Beams' character and I apologise.

To help people make a balanced view of all this, I can reveal that the Demons are looking to trade into the Top 15 in order to offer two first round picks, in this case 3, 12, for Dayne Beams.

Paul Connors has conceded that Brisbane is not an unlikely option for Dayne now, and you will notice that Collingwood are now publicly reporting they are open to other offers for Dayne.

Melbourne is asking for pick 48 in return from Coll, and this is believed to be enough to get Sam Frost into the club. It's believed Collingwood will only have 4 picks at the draft this year, and with 3, Moore, 12 and 30, then 48 may not be required anyhow. However there is work to be done to convince Dayne to accept terms with another Vic club, but I'm confident in what I'm hearing that remaining @ Collingwood is now his last resort.

Pick 3, 12 for Beams and 48

Or in effect

Frawley, Trengove and pick 23 for Beams and Frost

How does that look everyone? Win wins around I think...

My credibility in all this? I can't give away my place of employment but im in regular contact with Connors Sports Management, Dayne's management group, and have been particular busy today as his future today included Melbourne entering the picture...

Plenty to play out but the above will become public knowledge soon enough I'm sure, happy to give my fellow Demonlanders the marginal heads up first

JJH This type of post both excites me and causes me anguish, whilst I really enjoy that you have given us some insight I also struggle with the fact that this information should have some confidentiality about it I hope you are able to maintain your anonymity .

that being said there is something to be said for guilty pleasures :pj:

Why are we chasing him if his old man is so ill and he will spend a heap if time at home in qld?

From what I understand his dad's not ill, he had cancer but it's in remission.

Classic I can just picture Lumumba running after Beams sayin I am getting too old for this $**t!

In terms of outrageous trade rumours, JJH post is the best constructed and most convincing that I have seen.

Ridiculous. The more I think about it the sicker I feel. As supporters we have gone through a lot with this kid. To watch his best years unfold elsewhere would be very tough to watch.

I am reminded of Scott Thompson although in that instance he wanted out. These things always have a habit of coming back to bite us on the arse.

And if we ship off Watts or Howe, we could end up with another first rounder to package with pick #2. Danger & Beams combo, yes please!

If my dad had cancer and went into remission (for whatever the term 'remission' is worth) I'd sure as he'll want to be close to him.

Appreciate your concern, but we expect this to be common knowledge throughout the weekend. Already, it's being reported that GWS are into Beams as well, as I expect other clubs will be.

But only GWS and us have a top 5 pick that interest the Pies, and theirs is likely to go on Griffen

Especially after living away from him for 6 years pursuing a football career.

God forbid anything happens... he'd want to move to be close with his family. I think the trade is fraught with danger (no pun intended) if we really do intercept his plans to move to Brisbane.

A club is made up individuals working for a common cause or interest.

I've said many times that the only loyalty left in football is the dumb bastards like us who pay our memberships.

But what are we loyal to?

Players trade jumpers, clubs trade players, coaches are sacked, drugs are taken, players don't like coaches etc. etc. Sport and loyalty are gone.

I love cricket but cannot get interested in the 20/20 comps because it reminds of school lunchtime " pick up sides". There is no sense of team.

I realise this is living in the past but this Trengove deal would be the last straw for me.

The club belongs to US we are the members of the club and we are the constant. The players and personnel come and go but we support the front of the jumper not the back. I want to see MFC holding the cup I don't care which players are doing it as long as they wear navy blue with the red yoke.

Silly GWS, pledging their pick 4 for a 28 year old with a dodgy back.

I don't think it's a case of intercepting, more like picking it up off the ground where it's lying broken.

Just read JJH's post. Thanks for the info.

Interesting, attractive, but can't shirk the air of Clark 2.0 when it comes to snaring Beams at the final hour.

If true that means we are giving up 23 and Trenners for Lever. If Lever is gone by 12 what then, we give up 23 and Trenners for some other young kid.

Seems a hell of a lot to lose for a kid at 12.

I don't think I mentioned pick 23, that's the bit you made up I think?

Mate, there's no connection between Beams and Clark. The circumstances in which the trades are conducted is similar, but that's it. There's nothing to suggest this will turn out the same way because they're not the same person - unless you know something about Beams that you're not sharing.

It's disrespectful to be considering Beams IMHO, if his dad is in remission i think he's going there no matter what.

Pick 3+Pick 12 or Trenners + 23 over to Adelaide for Dangerfield and pick 50

Trade pick 50 for Frost

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
