As with a number of others, I don't really feel for the Swans who have been abusinig the system for years (see Mr Heeney). I do however think that this is yet another idiotic, ill-conceived declaration from an institution which has a long and glorious history of making idiotic ill-conceived decisions which rarely achieve what they want and often create more problems than they solve. Once again they are showing the world just how ameteur an organisation the AFL really is.

how I read this is that now they cant draft players , they can still trade them for HIGH draft picks and stock pile kids

so they might look at off loading some to get high picks this year and next to help reduce their salary cap

I don't like the swans and I think the coal should definitely go. But this is a ridiculous move by the AFL and should not be allowed.

Things are grim when Andrew Bogut posts that this decision indicates that the AFL are a shambles.

This will not effect the swans to the next 2 season.

they will use the delisted free agents who can fill a role ie Laidler & derricks.

that why they keep Goodes & Shaw for next season

Classic moneyball but with a Yankees budget .

    Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded.     Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was.
