GAME DAY - round 20

Just have a crack

I'm crediting Jetta with that goal, so good in the tight situation.

He has been nothing short of a revelation this year.

Can we find somewhere on the ground that Watts can go where he is the least detrimental to us? Put him in the forward line. At least the ball isn't going to go there very often.

Jack Watts again.

I'm so sick of defending this guy.

FFS jack Watts gave Smith, a faster player 10 meters inside forward 50 then, stupid lazy play by Watts

Chip auditioning today.

Wow when was the last time you have seen melbourne do that

Last play vs Essendon.

Notice how Watts cops it for their last goal yet it was Vince who went to ground easily that gave them the extra man to set it up... yet no-one cracks it about that.

Very happy with our ins so far today, Gawn giving us a target, Barry and Michie getting their hands on the pill, Cross is just fantastic... we are having a dip, no doubt about it, which is pleasing to see. Just need to keep it up now.

In years one by we would have been six goals down by now. We're no chance to win, but anyone who thinks we haven't improved is flat out wrong.

OUT: Watts, M. Jones; anyone who can't kick.

IN: Hogan, anyone who CAN kick.

Things will be better from now on.

Reasonably encouraging. Good first 10 minutes but then we let the floodgates open a little bit. A couple late goals helped a lot. Cross makes a world of difference while Watts is um.....well no.

This is the most hilariously split personality thread I've ever seen. All we need is a contribution from hogans_heroes and it will be complete.

Please explain.

Garlo Mitchie Kent poor disposal and a fumble costing us goals . 2nd rate footy

Probably because Vince doesn't do it every time he goes near the ball.

Puts Watts in the goal square! He's just no good around the game if we can't get the space and win the stoppages. Play him out of the bloody square! We have no targets going forwards!

Trust me when I say I'm not a Watts apologist, far from it, but I was far more annoyed at Vince going to ground and allowing Stratton to waltz up the field to set up an easy goal. I know Watts ended up being involved in the chain but the contest was long gone by the time he could have had an impact on it.

I seriously love Nev Jetta. Crossy welcome back. Barry getting amongst it.

A sign of fight there. It's something.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
