Has our next coach already been chosen?

Featured Replies

I will put this out there.....the next coach has already been sewn up - Mark Thomson. He has been treated appallingly by the bombers, will be stabbed in the back when the French Prince returns, is a great coach, he and Roos are great mates, Jackson thinks he is the "ants pants", and he will want revenge - big time!

I proffer the following scenario: 29 mins into the final quarter the bombers lead the dees by 5 points in the 2017 grand final. Watts grabs the ball in the centre bounce, kicks 60 metres for hogan to take a screamer 55 meters out, the siren sounds, and he dobs it half goal, post height (Buckannara like). Hird goes nuts! And refuses to come out of the coaches box.

Thomson has nothing more to prove and gives Hird the "two finger" salute.

Oh what bliss!!!

i wouldn't say know....Roos & Thompson really understand each other

PJ knows him well.

Hird will never coach another AFL game again

or any other sport

Roos and Thompson has a coaching duo is enough to make ANY football fan salivate.

Unfortunately, I can't see it happening. IMO this saga has had its toll on Thompson, and I doubt he'll coach again in the near future.

He's damaged goods.

As far as I am concerned the next coach is employed at the hawks at present .

By the end of 2016 he will be available.

End of story for mine.

Not sure that I agree, but I love the imaginative ending.

Revenge is a big motivator, and I suspect he is going to be treated appallingly. Little and the Essendon board continue to exhibit the insensitivity and boorishness about which they have become so famous.

I suspect Hird will come back, and it will a destroy Essendon...

In this scenario can hird be sent to st helena or can his imperial guard falter before our thin red and blue line?

Right...

Clarko for mine.

You have my vote

Is that when Cameron Bruce is out of contract? Or Adem Yze?

Could not imagine Cameron Bruce as a successful senior coach. Never came across as someone with much fire in the belly. A great runner but would rival Grimes for kicking out on the full.

I don't believe the club has made a decision, I think they are holding out hope of retaining Roosy, having said that I firmly believe Bomber will be an assistant at mfc next year.

Garry Lyon keeps hinting at that. Roos is also good mates with another Lyon whose family might like to return to Victoria in a couple of years.

Garry Lyon can stay the f**k out of any coaching discussions! Sorry Red, had to get that off my chest.

It seems like we get excited every time Clarkson's contract nears its expiry, only to be disappointed yet again.

Is this the same coach who snubbed one of his own stalwarts for " disloyalty" ( Ablett jnr ) and while still coaching the Catters was accused of making umpteen calls to a Windy Hill number from his office phone by none other than his own club president .

I reckon the hawks will be well on the slide in 2016, they might feel it's time for someone else for a re-build and Al might like a new challenge?

Hawks on the slide in 2016? Hilarious! They haven't been on a slide in 30 years. Wish we could slide like them....

I'd struggle with that. He has been around the Dank affair at 2 clubs. He has the stink on him. He also looks lost at times in the coaches box. "Games past him".

Hawks on the slide in 2016? Hilarious! They haven't been on a slide in 30 years. Wish we could slide like them....

Sure, except in 2004 when they were given a priority pick and picked up Franklin and Roughead. So except for then.

I still think Rawlings is a shot. Keeping him on was a huge vote of confidence and given that most of Roos' former underlings have refused to budge he looms as a real possibility.

Most of Roos former underlings are aiming to coach teams late into September and do what every coach aspires to be involved in, and learn how to do...

Win a flag.

Or

they could come to Melbourne and be second banana in the 7th year of a rebuild that has yielded a handful of wins... this season.

Tough choice.

They'll come if we rise in 2015, be onboard for 2016, and ready to take over in 2017.

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
