I think Jeff has grown up considerably since the days he was at the MFC and Freo (where I think he had a few run ins with the law did he not?).
Having a 'real' job and obviously a pretty big family with a new born makes you realize what is important in life.
Good to see he is doing well. I was disappointed when he left but he gave us plenty of memories to remember him by.

My all time favorite player.. this game hasn't been mentioned at all but his 2000 preliminary final against North when he kicked 8 was one of the most explosive performance I have seen from an individual player.

He was so angry and fired up he was literally unstoppable!

Miss ya Wiz!

Close to my all time fav as well though Robbie will never lose that mantle for me. I've recounted this story before on DL but my favorite Wizard moments and one of my all time favorite footy moments was at that game he kicked 9 after half time, against Collingwood in 2000.

Before kicking his first he had 1 kick , 1 handball and 1 mark. I was in my usual spot on top of the Ponsford and this moronic redneck Magpie fan, sitting right in front of me had yelled abuse at Farmer for the whole first half and well into the second - most of it racist , but in a way that that he probably thought was clever. Farmer 'looking for a handout again' was one of his favorite lines. What was worse was that he had his 10 year old son with him.

I told him to pipe down but he just got worse and in those days (not that long ago is it) you didn't really get security (though i probably should have). In any case Farmer did the work for me by going wild in the second half.

I never gave the yahoo a single opening to have a shot at me because i never directed anything at him. However I could not have yelled more enthusiastically and made sure every shimmy, kick and mark by the Wiz was loudly appreciated and highlighted. The redneck got quieter and quieter and eventually skulked of halfway through the last as the dees ran away with it. Gold

Watching The Wizard was what footy is all about. Excitement, freakish talent, aggression, showmanship, frustration, the unexpected, huge grabs, incredible goals. He just delivered so many emotions to those watching him.

The interview gave me a mixed feeling of happiness and sadness - obviously it is always enjoyable to reminisce on some of those incredible games and moments, but at the same time you feel slightly robbed that for the past seven or so years we have been starved of the incredible feeling you get from watching a winning finals-bound footy team.

To right Scoop. I feel cheated for the last 7-8 years.

No one has had to endure any near the weekly humiliation we have.

Not even close.

Jeff Junior doesn't play footy anymore. Hasn't for 4 years.

Its Koby the one to look out for!

Freo supporters are real keen on Farmer's kid as Father/Son.

Saying he is a great prospect. Guessing that's Koby if Jeff Junior isn't playing anymore

Hope Jeff gets in his ear pushing him towards us, although we could end up fighting the exact same battle with the family draw card. Edited by Pates

This was a great interview with The Wiz.It brought back great memories and I was at the 'G when we smashed the Pies and Farmer kicked 9 goals AND 1 point. He only played in the 2nd half! When I got back to my car I had a parking fine for about $100 ! But I sort of laughed it off , because that was the price for watching the Wiz's genius. We should fly him over each year and sit him down with the players and watch his highlights - that should fire the boys up!

That '98 final against the Crows. There was one piece of play where The wiz was running towards the Punt Road end...he had about 3-4 bounces before he kicked the goal. The roar from the Northern and MCC Stands i will never forget...

The Wizard 33.

I wanted Robbo to ask about the time he kicked the winning goal for Freo in his 1st match against the Dees. Neita fell in his back on the siren and he slotted it and ran jumped in the crowd. I still love him though!

I agree....if he was so sad to leave the Dees why did he always outperform when he played against us? He won a couple of games for them against us if memory serves correct.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
