I've got a 1959 grand final medallion, wonder what that's worth?

Was thinking of donating it to the club, does anyone know if the club has a small museum or similar display?

Well, Biffo does need to raise some money to cover the next installment of board at the Gat. At this rate, he could buy the place couldn't he?
BTW, where is Biff? I miss his random musings.

It is nice they got it back.

But I am tired of past Glories

I want few future glories in the next couple of years.

Like the glory of being in the top half of the ladder in 2016

Only you could turn finding our 1948 premieship flag, which was done by police and not the club, into some fluff about being tired of past glories and wanting future glories which takes the whole thing out of context.

Impressed with the bloke for having a crack at selling it when, surely, he knew deep down there was no chance he would get away with it.

How on earth did that Flag ever get out of the Club's possession? There were no Premiership Cups back then, so this Flag was the only tangible symbol of that win. I'm staggered to think it wasn't on display at the Club

Apparently it not the only one missing according to the article.

GREAT NEWS, however prior to hearing it I wasn't aware it was stolen.

From the rough hear say I was told this morning it appears other things were stolen from roughly the same time.

Does anyone know of what is currently missing and roughly what year or era these were lost/ stolen?

I would also love to see a photo of the original add from a curiosity perspective.

ALSO a BIG THANK YOU to the Demons supporter looking through eBay and contacting the club over the matter.

I hope you are a Demonland member and read this post.

Carlton have about 23 cups.

Over the years players have taken cups for a talk at local footy clubs and just never returned them,Some were missing for years and the club remade some "lost" cups.

Some were found in the back of somebodies old house or at a footy club and returned,So carlton ended up with duplicate cups.

Apparently the club cant afford to hire a person just to look after memorabilia.

As the original of our song says "Keep your eye on the grand old flag"

I heard a while ago that a lot of MFC memorabilia and flags were stored with the MCC ( as the MFC was part of the MCC), but left in a storeroom/attic in the old smokers pavilion. When they went to the store to retrieve things before it was torn down, lots of these things were found to be missing.

Beggars belief really....

it's not the property of the mfc vagg (believe it or not)

it's the property of the mcc (being the owners of the club at that time)

Heard a memorabilia expert on the radio today who explained that it is highly unlikely it is the original, as back in the day the clubs actually flew the flags at all home games and over a period of about two seasons they would fall apart due to weather. Most flags from that era are replicas that the clubs would purchase to replace these, and he would require irrefutable proof that it was the original for him to believe otherwise.

12 flags/cups in the first 68 years.

10 in 26 years between 1939 and 1964 and would have been more if not for the war - 39/40/41 team would certainly have won more - who knows how many - but nearly all of the good players went off to the war after 41.

Those were the days (except for the war) - a premiership every 5.6 years and between 1939 and 1964 - every 2.6 years.

6 of the 12 premierships beat Collwood in the Grand Final - magnificent.

I was the only kid at school who barracked for the Demons in the 50s/60s - wore my Melb Jumper to school every day in the winter (No 3 Peter Marquis - full back and No 5 Ian McLean - wingman) - all the other kids barracked for Collwood,Essendon,Carlton etc. - I was hated because MFC were hated - it was unbeeleeeevably good.

(yeah the MFC was a sporting section of the MCC).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
