What one Sentence Message would you send to the Umpires after this weeks game ?

It's really about character, and some of you don't seem to be up to handling the heat in Adelaide.

In the words of Liam Neeson (slightly altered), 'I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my players go about their business fairly, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you'.

Clearly longer than one sentence but I thought it was appropriate.

Get in the van...

Bunch of sooks.

Good teams are able to win in-spite of the umpires.

The Watts free was there. The last time I checked, a player was not permitted to make contact above the opponents shoulder.

Sorry if this isn't a proper reply, but wasnt there a study a year or two ago that clearly demonstrated that umpires were affected by crowd behaviour?

If anybody knows the reference, I'd be grateful. I remember thinking at the time that it really mitigates against us. Youd think it would even out - i mean they have to come over here often enough - but i suspect not. I mean, when Adelaide or whoever plays say the Pies or the Druggies in melbourne, the umpires get a huge, parochial mob of maniacs roaring at them. But when they play us, they get, with a few admirable exceptions, a small crowd of polite, middle-aged, middle-class clappers.

TYPICAL PERFORMANCE BY GUYS WHO HAVE NEVER EVER PLAYED THE GAME AND THEREFORE HAVE NO FEEL FOR IT!

Respect is earned, not given.

To be honest, I don't really blame the umpires as such, but I think Umpires Director has to cop some scrutiny. No prior opportunity is one thing, but I loathe watching games where players can just drop the ball without being penalised. And don't get me started on the theatrics of "no genuine attempt to dispose of the ball". It's become a blight on the game and an eyesore and I believe the new rules/ inpterpretations are not in the spirit of the game.

My message would be:

When someone say "get some balls before venturing out onto Adelaide oval" they ain't referring to the Sherrins !!

Interestingly KB went to great lengths to explain that the Watts free was in fact not there on SEN this morning.

He generally goes into bat for the umpires but was adamant that by the laws of the game there was no free, and that any contact was incidental and as such was play on.

Agree about good teams but we aren't a good team and will struggle if the whistle goes against us.

Also every commentator agreed that Jack Watts could feel very annoyed because he infact spoiled the ball before contacting wingard, so in my opinion it should have been play on

I just watched the replay and in no way did the umpires affect the outcome, we benefited from some iffy decisions too

The free against Watts to Wingard is a free every day of the week and if the teams and decision were reversed I suspect this site would be in meltdown for it not being paid.

The well documented lack of composure in the final minutes when we had possession and the lead cost us the game

and so, your comment to the umpires? "Well played, sir"?

ok im not going to moan here but im absolutely convinced that we are umpired differently to the better teams , there is no doubt about that , why ? who knows

F... Off hairy legs

I'd simply ask them to wear earplugs so they can't hear the crowd. May cause a few difficulties however.

you have the respectful disagreement of every person on this site that has a pair of eyes. FMD.
