Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Off-season- hurry up please

This is why i think demonland is great for a laugh. Every year it's the same.

1) Season goes off the rails

2) Supporters start longing for the off-season

3) Supporters start to get impatient between start of off-season and draft

4) Draft comes and goes and hope is restored

5) As pre-season kicks in to overdrive we looked really good, increasing optimism

6) Supporters start longing for games to begin

7) Season starts and inevitably, the process begins again

Well for me I'm looking forward to it so we can bugger off our list cloggers and bring in some actual talent. It also gives us a chance to plug up some holes that we still have on the field: class mid, a backman who can actually kick, recruitment of draftees who will instill us the supporters with hope that they'll one day be champions, get in some valuable depth, etc. The off-season also means another pre-season for guys like Trengove/Hogan/Toump/Salem/Tyson/Viney/JKH, etc. This pre-season for me isn't about hope and confidence that will just go down the drain during the season, it's about the excitement leading up to our rise.

Yeah? What do you have against optimism?

Yeah? What do you have against optimism?

Well for one, it never lasts.

As for MFC optimism..................well it's like the bus system - you arrive at the bus stop on time and the bus is 10 minutes late, or you're one minute late and the bus goes by just as you're within 50m of the stop. It's nothing but a teasing, elusive illusion.

5 kicks, 8 handballs, 3 tackles and probably his poorest game for the year.

But that could be said about half the team (N Jones, Tyson, Dawes, etc)

The game - disappointing performance

Should be doing a bit better than this by now shouldn't he? If we are going to get some where, surely no passengers allowed, certainly of the senior variety. How many games now?Skipper hasn't done much either over past three weeks. Worrying times again and leadership again under the microscope. 4 Goals? Struggling to cope with this.

Geez Chris Dawes is a really bad footballer. A lot of people on here love him because apparently he brings so much to the team, well personally I don't think he brings anywhere near enough. We are paying him big bucks to take marks & kick bags of goals. Yes hes a good leader & demonstrates work rate but hes a shocking unskilled footballer.

My Collingwood supporters laughed when we picked him up, constantly saying that he will lead up to the ball and either run under it or the ball will come in and itll bounce off his hands, finally I'd have to admit they were spot on.

We had a lot of passengers last night, we are starting to look very tired. I've always said it, we need a big cleanout and start letting go players who we have persisted with too long, hopefully add some class and this will take the pressure off players by not producing a plethora of turnovers.

Predictable mid-season slump. All the excitement, energy and passion of "new Coach","new Game Plan", "new recruits" etc., etc. has well & truly evaporated by July. In fact, been apparent since the Essendon game (possibly the season high point). We are struggling because our 'bottom 6' are not AFL standard. Compounding that problem is the atrocious performance of the Casey Scorpions which, as other posters have commented, would hardly seem to be assisting player development. The trick now is for Roos & Co to show their coaching skills and build/restore that famed '120 minute competitiveness' that all coaches ( and supporters) go to see each week. The acid is also on the players to see which ( if any) of them is up for the challenge. By the sounds of it, there would be quite a few guys who played last night who should feel guilty when they get (handsomely) paid this week.

Yep.

Let's deliver the ball on top of his head.

Let's watch him make several leads and ignore every single one.

Really dumb post. He chases, he tackles, he instructs. I feel sorry for the bloke who has to direct the same players again and again and again.

I'd like to know who do people feel are our bottom 6 or indeed bottom 10 from last night's game. I reckon Terlich poor kick, Bail no footy nous, M Jones limited, Mckenzie poor kick, Jamar no around ground impact and Pedersen needs a tank for second efforts.

Not a dumb post at all, he can't mark to save himself, as a key forward it's one of the requirements, absolutely shocking mark. His kicking isn't great either, even when he was at the pies. If you disagree with this then he's obviously one of your favourites and you don't have a good grasp of what a key forward requires.

As I said, he has great work rate, but shocking skills and I'm starting to question ability, ask any collingwood fan what their thoughts were.

A key forward requires precise delivery, not the rubbish he gets served, week in, week out.

Needs to do some work on his marking, but his kicking is reliable.

Unashamedly one of my favourites - a leader, an inspiration and works hard.

Your post was dumb, thoughtless and emotive.

And yours is dumb and bias.

He had superb delivery at Collingwood and did the same, stop making excuses for him, we need a lot more from him. Put it this way, I think Pederson is a better mark and kick. Dawes also leads to some terrible positions and doesn't help himself.

Absolute rubbish.

He is part of a (small) group of players wgaf.

He plays with intensity, loves a contest and gets s*it delivery.

Girls stop fighting. We're on the same side! There was a lot of kicking out from their forward half in panic last night to nobody in particular, resulting in turnovers. The delivery to Dawes needs to be into his bread basket not above his outstretched finger tips over his head. We clearly need some more strong, tough, fast mid fielders and forwards. We have a top coach. We have poor players. Even Nathan Jones, arguably our best overall player this year and Dunn would struggle to get a game at a top four club. Look at Sylvia. Jack Watts still plays like he's at school most weeks. He might develop in about 3-5 more years. Unfortunately we need another big turnover of players but do we have the funds to get talent of the level required? At least now we have recruiting staff and a great coach instead of half blind fools for recruiters. Just some embittered but hopeful observations.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
