Fair enough, mine was more tongue in cheek.

I've never seen him play and didn't see much of tonight's game so based on any form I couldn't comment.

I just have a lot of respect for N Jones and based on that would like to see his brother do well.

I have it on good authority Nathan Jones wants to play with his brother. Expect him to sign a deal with Sydney quick-smart.

And we wouldn't have JKH

Yeah I didn't think of that. Mid year Jones would've slipped past the 3rd round, so we could've had both.

I don't know, I just prefer the Collingwood approach to late picks - telling them to slow down, we'll pick you up at the back end, like Langdon.

He'll STFU when the dees beat his beloved Norf..

How does a [censored] that cheated on his best mate and then assaulted his next girlfriend get on TV again? Endemic of a filthy society. Our 'celebrities' get away with murder and sometimes literally do.

Is there any evidence of that? It's severe draft tampering and they'd then have to stick to their word and draft those guys otherwise they'd be exposed.

This article sure sounds like Langdon wasn't slowing down. http://sandringhamdragons.com.au/www/content/default.aspx?cid=1006&fid=956

And I just can't see a guy missing out on a draft one year taking the word of one team the next year.

When his brother is Nathan Jones, it should've been a simple exercise.

I know If I was in the same position, I'd of spoken to the club and made sure I found my way there.

Playing with family is important, you can bung on about draft rules, but a simple nod from a two time B & F winner would've been good enough.

Zac Jones should be in the red and blue, no two ways about it.

Wayne Carey gave Nathan Jones a jibe about Melbourne not playing on Friday nights, what a tool.

Last night when Riewoldt marked amid 3 Swans he said "you don't expect to win those 50/50 contests".

He's about as insightful as Magpie Premiership Captain Tony Shaw.

How many times has this actually happened?

If it is easy enough to do that "Jones should be in the red and blue, no two ways about it", provide some evidence that this has happened before.

Rohan was sub last week and came on for about a quarter; he failed to get a possession.

Not sure why everyone on here wants us to put in a bid for him.

Before he broke his ankle he showed some glimpses of real star quality, I saw some things that had me thinking he could be a high quality player.

He has done very little since coming back, he may or may not get back on an upward trajectory. I would be having a serious look at him pending some medical assessments.

lol

A Melbourne fan found a way to criticise the club for NOT manipulating the system to its advantage.

We have come full circle...

I was just suggesting that if Chip goes and we have say picks 5 & 6, knowing Roos he will trade one of them.

The Swans with an aging list and a low 1st pick may be in the market for a high pick that will give them a cheaper player but with potential star quality in the future.

The Swans also have a very good midfield with players like Mitchell to come back etc.

A player like Rohan who has had a bad injury and maybe a Zak Jones may be tradeable. One an outside mid and one an inside mid.

Both might like to get back home and you never know.

Just putting it out there.

Redleg would you do pick 6 for bird and Jones?

Posted

I think there is some merit around the idea of Roosy dealing with the swans and dockers at the trade table in future due to the working relationships he had with horse and R lyon. Im sure they had a good a chat about Col and decided it was best for both party's.

And I Would love to see Zac at the demons along with any worthy siblings of guns and father sons . Pride in the jumper and team synergy from this supporters point of view.

Clearly pick 6 is too high for Jones alone and I am not too familiar with Bird.

What do others think of him?

Just looked up Bird's details and I see he turns 26 at start of 2015 and is 179cms. Jones is only 181cms. Roos like the bigger mids. Rohan will be 23 next year until June and is 189cms. He has only played 32 games in 5 years to the start of this year and a couple more this year.

Again, there will be a deal of some sort done with some club if we lose Chip and I am just throwing out a possibility. Roos could laugh at my suggestion.

Bird is a solid contributor in their midfield, exactly the type of player Roosy loves, and Zac Jones looks a very good prospect,

I'm not sure about Rohan, I haven't seen enough to make a judgement but have read comments comparing him to Sam Blease,

maybe Mitchell and Jones for pick 6 would be a better deal but again it depends, Sydney might see it as unrealistic, I think they will be open to freeing up room in the salery cap a bit though

Rohan has looked decidedly average since his injury and I've heard it didn't heal well and that he'll never be the same.

Without his explosive athleticism, he's just another bog average player.

An inconsistent one at that, and one that probably has no idea how to play the game if he can't use incredible pace and athleticism to beat opponents.

I think Jones will end up being bigger or at least playing bigger than 181cm.

Bird is a good, hard-working, accountable accumulater, but his ball usage, kicking in particular, is iffy.

I'd certainly want the club looking for better players if it was going to give away a Top 5 pick.

Even Z.Jones who is a good player and very tough and versatile isn't a particularly good user by foot and we need players that can win the footy and kick with precision.

we probably need line breakers more than anything, I am fairly comfortable with our ability to win the inside ball going forwards with Jones, Viney, Tyson, Cross, Vince, Michie and Trengove

Well we know that Roos likes big mids. Bird will be 26 and both he and Jones are small. Rohan may be past his best form.

There will be a deal if Chips goes, that is my main point. Then again if there were 2 great big mids available at our picks.......................................

Exactly...He's a moron and always has been. Do what I do mate... & turn off when he is on.

He doesn't like Melbourne either...clear as day when he comments.

Carey is an arrogant tool of the highest order and I can't stand him.

NORF will never accept him back in the fold after his exit over there...and so they shouldn't.

Penalised heavily by the AFL integrity guys....if it involves a struggling club, but in the case of a "power club" like Collingwood? Do you recall how their current coach got to them??

Nothing here screams out "star".

Average of 8 disposals over 32 career games. Averaging 5 disposals in 5 games this year.

We might as well get Bennell back.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
