Dunn's current form is staring to remind me of Glen Jacovich.

Dunny has been very good this year. Still, he frustrates me with his occasional brain fades. He had a fkn great game tonight.

We just grew up a little as a team today. Also that team that was often comprehensively over ran and flogged has been laid to rest.

Still much work and distance to go , but go we are

Might be an idea to use quote marks... otherwise you may feel the heat of a few on here :)

The last two minutes is up on the AFL website:

http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2014/13/ess-v-melb

just looking at that footage of the Salem goal - why didn't Dawes run to the goal square? Oh well happy Salem kicked it

On a side note, how weak was the umpire's call of "play on" when the Essendon player had the ball after it was touched in the last couple of minutes.

It was as if he didn't want the players to hear.

Let the usual 'team that just got beaten by melbourne is in crisis and needs a blow torch' discussion start....

Essendon are the most arrogant club going around

The boo-ing while Salem was taking his kick absolutely encapsulates the Essendon supporter culture. I would be ashamed if my club's supporters did that....beyond ordinary.

I don't know why they don't signal play on with the whistle... perhaps three rapid bursts? I doubt the players would have heard him calling out over the crowd noise.

Good lord man! Have you got the flu or just had 10 too many shirazs?

Promised to never post on 'land again if Melb won tonight.

Surely HH should be commended for offering to sell his soul for a win. Very selfless... let him stay

Really? I hate Bummer fans as much as the next guy but this is fairly mundane thing to do (try and put the opposing player off). Lucky Salem has ice in his veins.

You also said it was the second time in two weeks Roos has been out coached... you repeatedly stated we had not improved from the Neeld days... you are gutless.

And going by the second last sentence above, you have to be Yze_Magic!

Beat me too it HT.

I liked the fact that Bomber Thompson gave the press the firm message/warning, that no one should be blaming the ASADA notices going out for the loss... he said that they have had 2 years of that pressure and should be used to dealing with it.

I had the exact same impression - it was as if he wanted to make it a closer game

Yeah, I like Bombre (see post 108 for spelling) and could cop him at Melbourne. Pity he's associated with that cesspit.

I was jumping around like a nut bag and some very unkind words were said to the Essendon supporters around me. I apologise for nothing.

That. Was. Marvellous.

I am so proud of this effort, despite the absolute crap first half we stuck to task and won.

Kent and Salem, take a bow.

What an amazing way to end the weekend.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
