Key forward

I was at the game and the amount of times our forwards couldn't mark or kick the bloody ball was ridiculous, we need to bring in a KPF who can break the game open.

Maybe Walker, Cameron?

Suggestions?

We are gonna rely this much on a guy who hasn't even played a match?

Don't get me wrong i'm excited but we should put this much pressure on him.

We all know Hogan changes the whole forward dynamic. We should target someone though with the chance of Frawley leaving. Although hes not hitting the board, takes away a key defender. Also probably look at 2nd tier fwds as depth players if Hogans back flares.

It wasn't entirely due to a lack of a key forward, the main problem was we were too slow taking it down the ground - giving Collingwood far too much time to flood their backline (our forward 50).

If we had taken the game on rather than messing around with it chipping it backwards here there and everywhere there would have been plenty of space for the forwards to lead into and take some marks for set shots.

Go and watch the replay at AFL.com.au and you'll see how flooded our forward line became, at times nearly every Collingwood player was inside (or just outside) our 50, and when they got it they ran and spread.

Also as others have said, Hogan will help resolve this problem by creating another target and I agree with you I wouldn't mind seeing the club target another forward.

I don't think there is a forward playing today that could have broken that game our way.

It was the mids of Collingwood that stole a few inches and got them the win.

Gamebreakers are in the middle.

I here that, everytime the kicked backwards I cringed.

Yeah but how many points did we kick? And how many forwards kicked a goal? 0

Obviously Hogan... But patience required and Dees supporters are very good at displaying patience (50 years of it)

He will give support to Dawes..He will not have to carry the forward line as does Dawes now..Too hard a task for ONE man.. Frawley is NOT a forward..

I do think we need another key forward to join Dawes and Hogan next year, if only because you have to account for injuries. It's left us very vulnerable this year and basically meant Roos has had to compromise his ideal game plan until he has the necessary players to pull it off.

Dan McPherson (assistant coach) mentioned pre game in the Hassatt room we may target a ruck man in the off season to replace Jamar.

Right, an assistant coach was telling the public half way through the season how we're going to replace a senior contracted player.... Seems legit

While not being present for said comments, I could imagine an assistant coach saying something like. "While Jamar is our senior ruckman and, especially given the high injury rate among our current stocks, we have to consider future insurance and development. We will certainly be looking at replacement options during the off season". Seems legit

I have been wondering if it would be better to have Frawley back in defence, regardless of his intentions for 2015, and give Garland another run up forward. He surprised many last year.

Paul Roos said at training the other day that you pick your nose and eat it. Now, being you weren't there to hear it then it must have happened.

Oh ok, So he was maybe criticizing Gawn, or maybe thought we shouldn't have re-signed Spencer? You believe everything you read on the net BBO?

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
