It would most likely explain for example why Byrnes gets games ahead of the more talented guys like Bleasey.

I heard the other day that Port use meters gained as a key indicater . Im sure the stats we see in the media are the tip of the iceberg.

My old man keeps on saying if Blease isn't picked this week he'll be [censored]. I keep saying to him, until Blease can string a number of consistent, two-way running games together, he won't be going anywhere.

Your argument was that McKenzie was in the same category as Magner and Couch. You were stupid to say so and have failed to back up that statement.

Nobody is arguing that McKenzie is the "complete" footballer, just that he's much better than the two you mentioned. Nobody has said he'll stay on the list or make a career of AFL footy from this point.

But don't be stupid enough to ignore his achievements.

You can do all the changing of words you like BB, but if you go back to my initial post, all I said was that McKenzie, like Magner, Couch and Valenti are one-trick ponies.

I am ignoring his avhievments because they have nothing to do with what I'm talking about. Which is the here and now.

One of the things that has hurt Jordie is that there seems to have been a movement in thinking in how to use him. Whereas before he was playing as inside mid/tagger, Neeld changed his role to a tagging wingman, shutting down players like Steele Sidebottom for example and now Roos seems to favour using better overall players like Grimes and Jones in more accountable head to head rather than sacrificial tagging sort of roles. Unfortunately for McKenzie, Cross is an extremely effective outside run-with player and has taken his spot. Had he not been playing im sure McKenzie would have been in and playing on Macrae.

Comparing McKenzie and Magner and Valenti is like comparing apples and oranges.

Magner and Valenti are ball hunting feeders, McKenzie is a negator.

Magner and Valenit are mediocre at their craft, McKenzie is quite good at his when given the chance. Like a lot of stoppers he is let down by skill deficiency, which is usually the reason taggers are given those roles.

There is no stat, though, that says Blease should be getting a game right now.

Happy with the changes. A little stiff on Georgiou, but I'm glad to see Gawny get a run finally, even if I don't think he's entirely capable of holding down a permanent forward position just yet. Will be interesting to see how his chop-outs in the ruck compare to Pedders' who I think has played the role admirably in the last couple of weeks. Am happy with the backline as long as Grimesy stays in it this week.

Such a tragedy to see Byrnes out of the team. Best of luck Pigdog.
