Players to target at the end of the year

Recommended Posts

I heard once that they are going to stop giving compo pics to teams that lose players to FA, what a load of [censored]!

We better get our affairs in order before that happens

Just hope the AFL don't pull the bottom out of the bag downgrading any Frawley compo. Wouldn't surprise to see a derailment to protect GWS.

Free agency can be a [censored].

That's the danger where the AFL are the default owner of the club (GWS). It wouldn't surprise me either.

Viney does things those boys cant. Alot of Macrae's possessions are cheap and useless. Wines is very good, but there are some key things he lacks.

I think most supporters would agree without much hesitation that the first bolded part is flat out wrong and the second one isn't explained in any depth at all, but that both Wines and Macrae are further along in their careers than Viney at this stage. Don't get me wrong, I love Jack and think he is having a very good season, but he isn't in their league right now. I think he can be but both Wines and Macrae are having sensational years.

The deception and under handed decision making by the AFL is deplorable... Would not surprise me if they step in to some how to protect their "investment"

They have a pretty decent 'investment' in us at the moment as well!

I know he's been mentioned but seems to be forgotten at the moment. Craig Bird is out of contract still and maybe we could do a deal for him and Malceski? Maybe 2nd rounder + Tapscott or Blease? Im not great at hypotheticals.

How are we front runners to get Cameron? Whoever finishes bottom of the ladder whether it be saints or lions will want him and they'll have a better pick than us, our only hope would be if Chip does leave and we package our first pick and compo for him- and I'm not too sure that would be the wisest move considering we have more pressing needs in other parts of the field.

Gws would want too much for Cameron. My guess is whoever lands pick 1 will deal with GWS, GWS will then use that to grb petranca, which could enable us to use pick 2/3/4 to land shiel or perhaps a quality mid from another team who are interested in one of the fancied KPF types who are touted to go early.

Or of course we keep both our early picks and just take them straight to the draft.

Let's not forget, if we lose Chip we have cover for him in one Hoges.

We are stil a big chance to finish bottom in my opinion Only issue is we would have to be careful about beating Brisbane

Agree with the statement - Viney is probably the best inside mid, mainly due to his explosiveness and toughness, but the other two are definitely better at this stage of their careers, both in quantity and quality. Macrae is doing what we wish Toumpas could/ will and Wines (mainly due to his size - did anyone see him brush away Viney's tackling attempt on the w/e?) is playing like a 200 game veteran.

I just cant see us having 2 or 3 GWS players in our team next year.

In my opinion, we'll get one of them or maybe even none.

I promise you we will not end up with Trealor, Cameron and Shiel or Cameron, Shiel and Greene.

We may get one, like Cameron or Shiel.

Dont get me wrong, that'd be a good result.

No sources, just my opinion JVFP, but I can easily see us getting a couple of GWS players onto our list next year. Given GWS's salary cap constraints (yes I naively still believe that they may apply to them) and their need to reduce the overall number of players on their list.

Can't believe the ignorance required to write off a kid at a bottom team in only his 2nd season.

A top 5 pick, no less.

And 3 of them!

Finally some sense on demonland

A lot of slices of the humble pie might well be dished out.

plenty of players that take 2-3 years before they start to get going at the top levels and go on to be elite

Dillon shield likely to stay at GWS....only club to show any interest is Hawks. The melb connection is simply because Greg Healy had known him all his life & would love him at melb.... So line through him. Oh by the way, realise this has only come from the closest person to him & not from the reliable rumours & innuendo from halfwit journalists & social media flogs, but as per the paul Stewart info...make of it as you will !

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
