Well, the thing that would ensure the club removes all thought of changing clubs would be to win the last 4 games of the season (assuming he gets up to play). hmmm, Hawthorn, Giants, West Coast at Patersons and Kangas at Etihad... well, if the team ever need an incentive to win those games, there it is.

FA is something that could really work in our favour as we start to rise the ladder so I'm not too worried about it. It's going to work well at times and bad at other times

The go home factor would be tempting for most kids living away from home for a period of time. At one stage or another it's only natural to feel a little homesick but that doesn't mean Jesse will pack up and go. It's up to us to provide an environment that he enjoys & feels he wants to be a part of. From what I can see we're holding up our end of the bargain.

I hate the FA thing. I find the concept that we should consider trading away a player just to make sure that he doesn't leave for nix as a FA very uncomfortable.

I don't find it uncomfortable - I find it unacceptable. I do not believe in trading away a player for fear of losing him in FA. You make a compelling case to keep the players you want to keep. Unfortunately due to our poor record of late we have not been able to make a case for players to stay. Hopefully that has now changed.

As to getting nix - you get a draft pick(s) for losing a player to FA. You get nix if you let a player walk into the draft uncontracted - the trade off there is that the player who walks into the draft must be prepared to go to a cellar dwellar.

Take Wines for example when he was drafted by Port he want to go home after his 2 yr contract had finished and look what he ended up doing, he EXTENDED his contract with Port.

We now have the best coach in the league and things r looking up.

If players leave for greener pastures then good luck to them cause we r heading north finally and it could be a decision that comes back to bite them on the bum.

It's not an easy decision to leave the MFC as it once was.

If Hogan bursts onto the scene like we hope he does and has 3-4 great years and threatens to be the competitions best forward we would get 2 first round picks or a solid player and a first rounder for him.

Agreed but you gotta back yourself in to keep your good players and with our improvement I am hoping that it will be easier to do.

You are right, in that the big teams back themselves in but also they can cover the loss easier.

Maybe it is or lack of success that drives it but the right of losing a crucial piece of the puzzle is hard to come to terms with.

If in 4 years we are threatening and Freo is sliding I would think the Le would be much less than it is now.

The Swans & Lions are basically full of players from interstate. There must be a large percentage of interstaters in the interstate teams as well. If you look at the total I'm sure more stay than go. Jesse is apparently loving living in Melbourne. Mitch is from Perth and is staying even though he's not at the club. "At the moment." After that interview last week it wouldn't surprise me to see him rookied and playing next year. What would that do for Jesse. Quite a lot, I would say.

His tweet of "I fucken love you Christiam Salem" on Sunday evening sounded like that of a passionate fan and not of a former player, I'm not expecting him to make a comeback but if he does I'm still fairly confident it will be with us.

To finish the year with two wins would be hard to believe three months ago.

As I have posted on here before my best mate is good friends with Jesse, she just told me he has had a really good running week, no pain or discomfort, that will be stepped up and the club feels he can play the last five games of the year with no setbacks!

I asked him at the end paraphrasing "it's sweet mate", "no probs, just taking it slowly" "did a bit"

Told him there were 30 pages of nervousness on Demonland "tell them not to worry"

He also was smiling and giving thumbs up to any MFC staff who asked him how he was going.

Why, they do know they have supporters, and they do know there are fan forums, and they know I post on here, so they use me to answer questions for the supporters out there, Jesse knows every supporter wants him on the field and he actually appreciates the support
