Jay Kennedy-Harris Is set to sign a 2 year extension.

Will be made public in the not to distant future... Great work, lot of talent, good bloke.

Little champion if true. Hopefully a 4 year extension for Jones is next on the cards. He should be our highest paid player.

Great news

Ok I really don't get this. He is a new draftee on an initial two year contract. He has shown a lot of promise over his first pre season and in the first five rings of the season he has looked like he has potential.

Why the need to give him a 4 year deal?

What benefit is there for Melbourne? Is he threatening to leave? Do other clubs want to take him?

I appreciate the show of faith on our behalf but I'm not sure why it is needed.

Stability, commitment, hope - simple really. Well done JKH

Seems the new thing done. Sign the new draftees up on longer deals after they play a few good games. Personally I'm not too fussed, but think it would be better and wait til years end then do it.

Given the post about us merging from 'household demon' i would be very wary of believing this info. Smacks of trolling to me.

Don't believe it. I'd be happy if it happened for I think Jay will be a good player for us, however it makes no sense.

Just incoherent trolling again.

Incredibly obvious that he will be extended at some stage considering his performances, so this is a laughably transparent attempt to gain some credibility for your trolling purposes.

See, I can do the same:

Dom Tyson to have contract extended in near future, after impressing the club.

Christian Salem likely to be given his first game soon after my inside sources tell me Roos was very impressed with Salem's VFL match.

Ad nauseum...

Where's JKH from? I vaguely recall he played in a Victorian TAC side, but where is his home? In other words, is there a "go home" factor that needs to be nullified by a longer contract?

Oakleigh?

I wouldn't be worried.

Agreed

This post is from the same bloke who posted and last night confirmed that Melbourne are relocating to Tasmania...

Don't know much about the families background and I'm very sorry if I'm wrong but I think his fathers passed away and his immediate family have been in Victoria for years. He played TAC for Oakleigh and went to Trinity College. Don't think there's any go home risk

Maybe it's just a 3 year deal but with different terms for 2015 than his original 2 year deal. I think if you do that you don't have to stick to the initial draft contract. I think draftees get about 50k but like 5k or more per match payment which if he plays every match obviously adds on another 100k to the deal. Possibly renegotiating the contract to give him guaranteed money for 2015 and 2016 (or even 2017) can result in paying the same amount of money as well as having him signed up. Plus you can then front load the contract for salary cap space in the future.

There's obvious benefit for getting those who you have a lot of confidence about locked in to contracts so you can start getting an idea of where you have room to move.

Are we allowed to do this?

Of course we should sign Hogan ASAP

Then Chip?

I wonder if the 'chat' to watts, was more than being dropped to Casey, if contracts are being organised atmo.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well whatever the truth to this is his price went up this afternoon

After only a couple of games he is already in the group of only four or five players in the team that I feel that we will win the ball when it goes into his area

He isn't the quickest over 20m but I doubt if there is a player in the league who has a faster first three steps

Man he has fast clean hands. Just body the ball and zoom and he's straight out of traffic. Lovely to watch. He'll be an ok crumbing forward but this kids a midfielder just waiting to build up his tank and strength.

Kid is a great talent. His ability to take the ball at speed is already elite.

Class midfielder developing nicely.

He's like a pinball in that he bounces off nearly everyone when he gets the ball/tackled.

Love it

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
