The "Melbourne" Chant at the end of the game.

It was also fantastic after the siren when, as the players congregated to walk off the ground, much of the MCC gravitated towards the player race to clap and cheer and show our support.

I have always believed that 30,000 Melbourne supporters are just as passionate and equally as loud as 60,000 of most other club's. We just haven't had much chance to show it of late.

Best example i can think of off the top of my head is the 2008 comeback against Freo. 15,000 at the ground (i was one of them) sounded like 70,000 when we hit the front. Getting goosebumps thinking about that game now!

I remember this game as well. Could hardly speak for 3 days after, my throat was that raw.

Some of the older ones amongst us might be able to confirm but I thought I'd read the chant also used to get used during the Smith years in the 50's/60's?

The only difference Dr. Was we were so F***ing great we did it all day.

I was very close to leaving at half-time. I've never left that early. Thought I'd stick around to see how they'd go. The first half was pitiful. Two minutes into the second half, you could tell it was a different team.

This game is the reason why I NEVER leave games early, even if we're 100 points down. You just never know what can happen, win or not, there's always (most of the time) something to get out of a match.

Think it's worth noting Freo have been doing that chant for longer than anyone.

The slow Melbourne chant was good, but I would have preferred a Yes! Chant (wonder if anyone will get that).

A side note - I may have also told the daughter that I would cancel her MCC waiting list application and I would never take her to the football again - harsh but necessary.

Have done the same....

Haha my brother and I were doing the Yes! chant after the match. Wasn't quite the same as in New Orleans though.

For those that haven't seen this...watch it...and you'll have goosebumps by the end of it. No matter how many times you watch it. Should play this on the big screen before our Round 16 home game.

"and they've had nothing to cheer about all year these demons fans".

Geez that sounds sadly familiar 5 or so years later! :(

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
