As Biffen said, anyone who vaguely entertained that idea needed valium.

Do you think Roos would have gone anywhere near us had Jeff gotten the gong?
I'm guessing PJ would have wanted out too.

Demoting the coach?! Hawthorn won 17 games that year didn't they?
That self important windbag wanted to send a two time premiership coach to Box Hill?! Senior players can get dropped but also if you have a background of success you are given a little slack. Not to mention the massive disruption it would cause for planning and the chain of command in coaching. Clarko did a bit more than just step into the coaching box on the weekend.

Again all those who thought this was a good idea, find a mirror and have a good, long hard look at yourselves.

Fairly sure that Jeff Kennett has Bi-Polar..Which would explain such lunacy..

I'm also not joking..

My source.

Anyhow yes.... thank the Demon Gods he didnt turn up on our doorstep..

I'll go against the trend here and say that the Hawks were under performing given their list, and while Kennett's words could have been destabilising to the team & club, the outcome was that they did indeed go up a notch.

Not the way you really want to run a club though.

I take full credit for getting Paul Roos to the club.

I have been disappointed with the past years and told a few people that and that was just the impetus that the club needed to go out and get Roos as coach.

Your welcome.

If you wanted to be hated by your own club, that's a good way to go about it!

i'd like to take credit for all success the MFC has in the future as i called for Mark Neeld's head!

I think you need a certain amount of self belief and ego to be successful but JK seems to taken the next 50 people in the lines share as well as his own.

My leadership style is about outcomes.

Have you ever seen a more conclusive statement that he's full of BS. Anyone who actually knows how to lead may well make a lot of decisions on intuition but they will usually base them on sound principles.

In 2006 when the cats were underperforming what did Frank Costa and Brian Cook do? They risked their relationship with Mark Thompson by conducting a sweeping review of the footy department based on sound knowledge. They then backed Thompson whilst he undertook improvements that came from the review. End result was the 3 premierships.

I've got no doubt senior coaches need to be pulled aside some times and asked to reassess what they are doing. It's why I think you need strong football knowledge on the board or in the administration of a footy club especially when you have an inexperienced coach. But public threats of sacking and private threats of demotion are not the way to do it. Did Jeff have any plan who would coach the side if Clarko was at Box Hill and what the players would do with mixed messages? Not to mention isn't demoting a senior coach who has a contract to do that job a breach of their contract? So many issues.
