Just a bit of fun really. What are your feelings towards each club? This isn't just asking who you hate most cause we've done that. So if you can't be bothered doing the list, no need to respond.

Can be anything from one word to a couple of sentences, and can range from long term to very recent. If you have no feelings at all then I guess N/A would suffice. Copy and paste below.

Adelaide -

Brisbane -

Carlton -

Collingwood -

Essendon -

Fremantle -

Geelong -

Gold Coast -

GWS -

Hawthorn -

North Melbourne -

Port Adelaide -

Richmond -

The fact we were further in our rebuilding then them.. and they have overtaken us and played finals last year.

Fair enough. I wouldn't say I feel jealous about that, it just really, really, really shits me.

CARLTON - Arrogant

COLLINGWOOD - Also arrogant. Nick Maxwell is overratted.

RICHMOND - The whole team is overrated. Have an easy draw and should they make finals again I can see them getting rolled again.

ESSENDON - I want infraction notices served and Watson to be stripped of his Brownlow.

NORTH - Admiration.

SWANS - Salary cap = cheating.

GEELONG - How good is Stevie J.

SAINTS - Start again.

FREO - Where's the remote gone.

PORT - Have shown us what's possible.

CROWS - Betts is not your saviour.

TASSIE GIANTS - Undecided.

HAWKS - Recruited well.

SUNS - Paying good odds to beat Richmond round 1.

LIONS - Will need to offer their 1st round pick for Patton come seasons end.

BULLDOGD - Hats off.

EAGLES - Have potential.

You left off Melbourne from your list. The one club that would probably provide the most interesting answers.

I assumed that one was love, Clint. Perhaps wrongly.

Adelaide -Not a real football team and I don't really care for them.

Brisbane -A "sort of" real football team (thanks Fitzroy for the premierships).

Carlton -A real football team for which I have little time.

Collingwood -A real football team put on earth to be despised by sane minded and thoughtful people.

Essendon -Refer "Collingwood" above.

Fremantle -Not a real football team.

Geelong -A real football team that got lucky.

Gold Coast -Not a real football team.

GWS -An abomination, and certainly not a real football team.

Hawthorn -A real football team to be grudgingly admired whilst being loathed.

North Melbourne -A real football team to be grudgingly admired whilst being pitied.

Port Adelaide -A real football team to be admired.

Richmond -A real football team to be loathed.

St Kilda -A real football team to be pitied and laughed at.

Sydney -A sort of real football team to be admired

West Coast -The first and ultimate non football team. The franchise with the phony Yank name.

Western Bulldogs -A real football team, I sincerely hope they stick around, we need the real teams to succeed.

Adelaide - An authentic club with good colours, with a genuine tribal following. Having said that, they got through in '98 on false pretences. PS Hope they don't win a flag whilst go-home-factor Scott Thompson is still playing with them.

Brisbane - Have some feeling for them with the merging of Fitzroy. Admire their three-peat.
Carlton - Old Guard, money buys premiership model, no flag for a long-time now perhaps the Barassi miracle finally wearing off.
Collingwood - Admire their back-to-the-walls attitude and their win-interstate mentality.
Essendon - Another money club whose 'all-it-takes' mentality sees them flat-lining. Dislike their penchant for on-field violence in September: 1990, 2000.
Fremantle - Glad to see them miss out with Lyons shopping around for a September squad.
Geelong - Always admired their play, as far back as the days of Farmer, Goggin, Sharrock, Wade etc, great exponents of our code. Should have won a flag in late 80's/90's.
Gold Coast - No interest. AFL gifts them an elite team. See how they run when the sand runs out a la Brisbane.
GWS - This team should be bought up by McDonalds or Hungry Jacks and become a hamburger outlet.
Hawthorn - Dirty deeds done dirt cheap: Matthews, Dippa, Campbell Brown, the guy who took out Bruce .... Guerra...
North Melbourne - Admire their no-pokies stance. Hovering on the precipice with a good squad. Coach is a bit smug regarding us, so they can just sit in the middle as far as i am concerned.
Port Adelaide - Dudded by the AFL, a proud club with 30 plus SANFL flags, asset-stripped and heritage stripped.
Richmond - A trad. dirty team, happy to see them keep missing out.
St Kilda - Poor Saints, could have had two flags in recent years.
Sydney - Used to hate them in the Gerard Healey era, now I absolutely love them, esp the way they stole the flag off Hawks a couple of years ago.
West Coast - Should be taken over by a mining company and re-located to the pilbara. take their jumper colours and song with them.
Western Bulldogs - Some compassion, really admire supporters who can stick with a club that has only one one flag, and with no silverware since 1954.

Geelong - Ablett, Ling , Bartell , Chapman, Stevie J, Taylor, Scarlett, Enright, Corey, Selwood......it's called class not luck.

In order of most disliked to least disliked

West Coast - Moving electronic boundary line signage drives me nuts, hate it. Umpire advantage. Unreasonable supporters. Poxy one-eyed coverage on the games most overrated player

GWS - Scully. I hope they lose every game for eternity by 100 points and at least one game by 187 but I know they are going to get very good

North - Brent Harvey

Carlton - Strutting, arrogant, whinging supporters of a team with an historically corrupt management

Essendon - Michael Long, drug cheats and James Hird who has gone from being my most admired person in the AFL to someone who should be banned from having anything to do with football ever again

Adelaide - Dreadful one eyed supporters and coverage.

Collingwood - For many years would have been top of this list. Can still muster some dislike for the smarmy Buckley but even their supporters don't seem as bad as they used to.

Cats/Sydney/Hawthorn. How I would like us to be. These clubs will no doubt move up this list when we eventually get into their league and can actually challenge them to an even game of football.

Port - Snatched the title of "Greatest losing margin in a Grand Final" from us. Thankyou

Freo - Flaky team made good with hang-in-there-supporters. Matt Price wrote about them, their motif is an anchor and the player most easiest to hate also looks like a Munster. You can't completely dislike this lot.

Saints/Gold Coast - Different but vaguely inoffensive and I can't separate them

Western Bulldogs - Gave us Rnd 22 1987

Richmond - Yeah, I know but I can't help myself. I have good friends who barrack for them, one of whom used to be able to do a really good Michael Roach taking a mark impersonation. The coming ninth thing doesn't hurt nor does the getting beaten in a final by a team that came ninth. I almost wish them well

Geelong - Ablett, Ling , Bartell , Chapman, Stevie J, Taylor, Scarlett, Enright, Corey, Selwood......it's called class not luck.

No, no, no, just lucky they got 'em when they did!

Such luck we should have!

Adelaide - Meh, don't love them, don't hate them.
Brisbane - Don't have anything against them really
Carlton - Girlfriend is a diehard supporter. Soft as kleenex though with the likes of Gibbs and Thomas powering their engine room. Jamison is a tool, too.
Collingwood - Supporters are filth and they have Maxwell. Apart from that I don't blindly hate them like I used to. Except on QB
Essendon - Drugs. James Hird. Enough said
Fremantle - Great side
Geelong - Like the team, cant stand the supporters.
Gold Coast - Nothing to dislike really. Good luck to them.
GWS - Scully x2 + Cameron's constant media barrage + the general arrogance of some of their players means I hope they fail as an organisation.
Hawthorn - Now that Franklin is gone I like them slightly more
North Melbourne - Can't stand them. They are soft, and they whinge about everything. Plus that oxygen thief Damien Barrett loves them to bits.
Port Adelaide - Liked watching them last year.
Richmond - I dislike Carlton, but that final was one of my highlights of last year. Soft
St Kilda - Disgrace on and off the field. Terrible culture
Sydney - Had always been my second team until Spuddy Franklin jumped on board. COLA irks me.
West Coast - Cheats
Western Bulldogs - Who cares

Essendon - Ambivalent

I'll admit it, had to google the definition of the word Ambivalent. Thanks O/D happy to learn something new from Demonland.

Adelaide - Quite like, love Dangerfield and I know Jenkins pretty well so have a keen interest in them.

Brisvegas - Almost pity them after the last couple years and more players leaving.

Carlton - Can't stand. Hate the arrogance of there supporters and would love nothing more than to see them back down the bottom.

Collingwood - I should hate but don't as much anymore. Love Pendles, he's a star. Continue getting some laughs via quotes from Grundy (saying he would happily box on with Buckley) and everytime Swan says something. Still, I really dislike them.

Essendon - Can't stand. The fact there supporters still believe they have done nothing wrong really irritates me.

Freo - Big fan. Always admired the Pav & Sandi. Also love watching there no fuss midfield going at it. Gives me hope that you don't need the best player in the competition to be in your team.

Geelong - I still enjoy watching them play. They just always back themselves. Sick of there success and there supporters however. Time to bottom out... please :(

Gold Coast - Nearly my second team. Wish them all the best and can't wait to see Jack Martin play.

GWS - As with everyone else here it seems, can't stand. Hate the way they didn't trade any picks and kept so many draft picks and talent. However I do have to laugh at the fact that during the years they had all the draft they have missed out on 4 of the probaby 5 best players in Jaeger, Jesse, Jack Martin and Brad Crouch. Would love to see them continually at the bottom and players leaving through the revolving doors.

Hawthorn - Same as Geelong, they play good footy but I have had enough. They sit in the middle for me but another premiership this year and they will slide towards the more disliked section.

North Melb - I'm just sick of the press around Majak Daw. I like how they embrace the 'shin boner' spirit in the way they play and even how they run the club. No pokies is a risk but I rate how they went about that.

Saints & Tiges - Mum (Tiges) Dad and bro (Saints) mean I have a soft spot for each. Can't believe how the tiges passed us so quickly in the rebuild facts. Suppose it just shows how lucky one can get during the draft years and another can not be so lucky. I'm jealous of the Tiges how they have such a great home base with so many great pubs in Richmond to celebrate after a win. Also, everyone has to admit, its a great song. (forgotten what ours sounds like)

Feel sorry for the Saints however, feel its going to be a long few years and its hard to watch the old boy getting so frustrated at a team of no bodies after being so close 2 years in a row.

Swans - Really loved them 2 years ago till they got Tippett. Couldn't help but wonder how a team could pull that off after a flag. After they picked up Franklin they are on the 'no Christmas card list' seems unfair.

West Coast - Don't really care. Too far away

Adelaide - Good mates with some Adelaide supporters [who come over every year] so don't mind tham.

Brisvegas - Admire their comeback after their dodgy start when all the other teams offloaded their rubbish on to them

Carlton - Can't stand. Hate the arrogance of their supporters and the way that the AFL sanctioned their tanking and deal with Judd..

Collingwood - Don't like McGuire as an arrogant president, don't like the way they are the only team that does not have to wear a dodgy 'away jumper', don't like the way they never have to play at Etihad, don't like the way they always get the Friday night and other marquee time-spots, don't like the way they always get televised [free-to-air] and can't stand their bogan supporters..

Essendon - Can't stand. The deal with Hird was an absolute farce.

Freo - I have a soft spot for Freo [only i wish that they had kept Schwab and Connolly]..

Geelong - I cannot avoid an attachment to Geelong as my late mother supported them and my girlfriend is also from there. I wish we didn't have to play them at the Cattery however.

Gold Coast - I wish them well though don't like the draft concessions that they got which compromised the draft [especially when they were in years that Melbourne was near the bottom and it caused as to miss out].

GWS - See Gold Coast comments [though I don't wish them well as we should have got a Priority Pick last year and snared Boyd].

Hawthorn - I could never like a team with the colours of wees and poos..

North Melb - They've had their chance over the last few decades now its our turn.. [Move them to Tassie or Canberra as well.]

Saints- My great grandfather played for the Saints [and in 1898 was the first player ever reported at Princess Park]. I also went to school with a number of their past players such as Carl Dietrich so have always followed them.

Swans - As the first interstate experiment I have admired the way they have gone about their business. Now i hope that Roos has the same impact on us!

Tiges - My godfather was a Tigers man so always had a soft spot for them. Only wish that we never let them play home games at the MCG (which opened the flood gates to the Pies etc.)! Perhaps is they let us share the Punt Road oval for training and build a [red and blue] social room there I would offically make them my second team!

GO DEES

On a scale of 2-18 (2 being as close as any club will ever come to replacing Melbourne should the worst happen, 10 being the winner of the rat's tossbag award, and 18 being the footballing equivalent of Osama bin Laden)

Richmond - Great theme song, great jumper and (in my experience) great--albeit cartoonish--supporters

Essendon - I can't help it. I love their jumper and colours, and the club shouldn't pay for the cheating ways of James Hird and co
Port Adelaide - My father was about a bees [censored] from getting a spot on their list before he gave the game away, so they'll always have a place in my heart for that reason alone.
Adelaide - Half my family barracks for them, and I was just a little too young to care that they robbed us of a Premiership back in the day. Having said that, Adelaide shoots to the absolute bottom of my list the moment I step foot in South Australia.
Brisbane - The great atmosphere of the Saturday night Gabba games has given me some good vibes toward this team. Add in the fact that I lived in Brisbane for a few years before coming to Melbourne, and you get a club that ranks a little higher than most.

Gold Coast - I love Gary Ablett. Plus, it's easy to like a team when they haven't had the time or audacity to be successful yet.
Sydney - Meh. No emotional connection whatsoever, and the SCG sucks to watch games at.
Fremantle - The epitome of "who gives a damn." Half a world away with no history, crappy colours and an even worse song.
Western Bulldogs - On pretty much equal footing with the Dockers, but the fact that so many people like this team for no good reason makes me want to barrack against them a little--if only to be different.
Geelong - Again, meh. Sick of them winning all the time, though I have to admire their ability to do so. Joel Selwood ticks me off at times, and Steve Johnson can go jump in a lake. A couple of years ago, their success was so all-encompassing as to have become repulsive. Now that that has died off somewhat, my disdain has reverted to a healthy ambivalence. Having said that, Tom Harley is pretty bloody annoying.
West Coast - Arrogant, privileged, successful. All things you love to hate. Also, half their team are serial duckers.
St Kilda - Is there a single player on their list who possesses even a single shred of charisma (or, for that matter, decency)? Also, the way they kill their coaches is absolutely disgraceful.
North Melbourne - I HATE BRENT HARVEY!!! Brad Scott and Lindsay Thomas can also nick off as well.
GWS - The epitome of a "franchise." How can you not dislike them? Also, Tom Scully, Heath Shaw AND Lance Franklin all on the one team? What kind of cruel joke is that?
Collingwood - Honestly, I only dislike this team because it's the default mode for any footy fan who doesn't actually support Collingwood. They haven't actually done anything to tick me off personally, and have even gone so far as to give us our marquee game of the year as well. I suppose I envy their financial success, and Eddie McGuire can be a bit much at times (or so I've heard).
Carlton - Chris Judd, tanking, feral supporters, VI$Y, AFL favouritism...the list goes on and on and on.
Hawthorn - I can't even put into words how much I hate this club. They're the only team I'd actually prefer to not have in the competition, such is my utter disdain for the whole lot of 'em. I'd buy one of their jumpers just so I could take a dump and a whiz on it, but I'd hate to waste my money on doing that to something that's already been pre-soiled at the factory.

most clubs not really fussed about either way. have lots of respect for cats and swans and how they play their footy.

Hawks fans can go jump off a bridge. they will disappear when their club is at the wrong end of the ladder.

I respect Collingwood because no matter what or how bad/good things are their fans will always be there and make noise. fair enough. can stand eddie, gary pert etc etc though. very happy bucks is coach as he is a dud. having said that, beating them will be SO good.

Essendon are the team I reserve most of my hate for. their fans are loudmouthed, pigheaded and usually blind to reality. their club is not afraid to go to the utter depths to succeed and yet will paint themselves as being the font of all morality. the sad part about it is they would still be a pretty decent team and have won a lot if they didn't play dirty - its just not needed by them. the whole "that guy is playing well, I better make him hurt" attitude. 2000 is a perfect example. we had 2 guys in hospital by half time due to 2 of the worst dog acts that have been, and on kids at that. totally not needed, especially as they would have won anyway (and if you deny that, go get your head checked). that they are now the focus of an investigation into an uncontrolled pharmacologically experimental environment is pretty much all their footy karma coming back at them.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
