So a guy whose barely played in 2 yrs (obviously through no fault of his own) is doing an extra session on a Sat night. Given his large salary and clear commitment to the club I'd call that par for the course. Great guy and love watching him play, but don't think it's too unexpected.

I wonder how many other players on big salaries would be doing this

You reckon when Buddy did his hammy he was in the gym on a saturday night ?

You think any of our players do this ?

Not by the look of this photo they don't

Firstly, most people don't think buddy did his hammy.

Second, anyone on about $600k p/a and unable to do their job for much of the last 2 yrs due to injury should be putting in extra hours (yes even on a Sat night) to get back to work.

I am fairly certain he could do that throughout the week. Highly unlikely he drove to the club on a saturday night just to take a photo of the gym

No offence tingles but this is hardly inspiring.

I've just knocked off from a 14 hour day and I'm going to the gym too. Am I committed? No I'm bloody stupid because I should be going to blow the froth off a couple.

But anyway.. "Yay Mitch!"

How about you give credit when it is due....great stuff Clarky, I hope he gets the rewards for his hard work. Set the example

Perhaps you didn't use much energy over 14 hours at work.

I am aware that he should be doing it .. the point I was making is how many of our players do you think actually do things like this ?
Clarky is setting an example and by the looks of the empty gym it seems he is the only one there. I am aware some other players may have done it but judging on our performances of late I am not sure many do extra work

Sorry, but I don't understand what anyone is talking about here. And I don't really understand the twitter jargon.

I opened the link and saw a load of photos from what appears to be a US trip. What is the big deal?

I'm impressed that Mitch is 'dedicated' enough to respond to your tweet Tingles, assuming you are luke_tingles.

The extra session is what a guy of his ability, standing and professionalism should be doing. And yes, good on him for that.

Yeah I was happy with that

Yeah as I stated I am aware he should be doing it however my point was are there many on our current list who would be doing it ?

I believe Jimmy Magner used to turn up to the club at sparrows f@rt to do early gym sessions. Look where that got him! ;) ;)

Jimmy was limited as a footballer but I still say good on him for doing it

Had a reasonable year at VFL level.

But what about the Tapscott's, Bleases, Trengove's and the like. I'm also tipping Cale Morton and Jordan Gysberts never did it

Do you know for a fact that Tappy, Blease or Trenners do not do extra work on top of their Club sessions? I don't, but my guess is most players do extra work, whether it be gym, running, bike, swimmjng, etc. I don't think Mitch would like the implication that others are slack because the gym was empty on a Sat night. Is that your point? No offence, but I just don't get the purpose of this thread.

Good to see he's a professional.

On a scale of 1 to Robert Harvey I rate it at 'affirming nod'.

Not exciting, just pleasant.

I also must give an affirming nod to "Most people don't think Buddy did his hammy" as being one the finest pieces of diplomatic language I've seen in a while. Well done Moonshadow.

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
