AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - Pick 9

Featured Replies

Now the MFC is in possession of pick 9, and there is some serious talent that will be waiting there for us to help bolster our midfield stocks even further in the wake of the Tyson and Michie signings.

Young dynamos like Crouch, Sheed, Bontempelli, Freeman, Salem, Lennon, Koladjashnij.....

Over to you Demonland.....

Don't forget Billings

I think it's a good pick this year, the midfield talent is pretty good through to the early teens. I like Crouch for his inside work and uncompromising attack on the ball but wouldn't be disappointed with some of the others mentioned. Be interesting to see who we pick up now.

Pretty obvious we rate one of these guys just a high as we do Aish & Kelly - if for no other reason than they have better crash & bash potential.

Freeman would be a great get

I hear he's a closet meth addict, so forget about him...

Also kicks puppies and plays violent video games.

Trying to get a job in the West Coast recruiting department are you? Would love to here your thoughts on Jack Darling pre draft!

West Coast would be nervous trading pick 6 for 10 and 27 now thinking Sheed will drop to them. Would love to use 9 to cut their lunch.

For anyone in the know or has perhaps watched the guy play, I'm interested in knowing what Crouch's kicking and decision making is like.

Is it comparable to Viney's? If so, I'm all for him.

I would be happy with Billings , watched him two years ago in U/18 champs as an under age player and stood out with his class ,goal kicking, and marking. Just the polish we will need to go with our grunt (jones , Viney, trengrove, tyson .)

Who knows who will fall to pick 9.

I guess it depends on what the teams above us need (we already know Boyd and McDonald to North).

Don't forget how late Grundy went last year.

I actually suggested we get a pick just inside the top ten for the very reason that highly rated players can drop a little in the draft.

I don't want Koladjashnij... his name is too difficult to spell. I approve of any of Freeman, Sheed, Crouch.

Will find it very difficult to yell his name out at the G.

Don't even know where to start.

GWS - Boyd. 2-4 (gws, St Kilda, Bulldogs): Kelly, Aish, Scharenberg in some order.

Picks 5, 6, 7 - Gold Coast, West Coast, Brisbane

Pick 8 - Luke McDonald

So the important thing is whoever we had high up in the pick 2 range falls through the Gold Coast, West Coast, Brisbane slot. Will be interesting.

We just have to hope there are a few teams that won't pick mids or have unusual picks.

Wasn't Grundy rated 2nd best in the draft last year but ended up going 12 because of clubs fulfilling other needs first.

What are the teams ahead of us most likely in need of? (Boyd and McDonald are already gone - so that leaves 6 players)

I think this is a great move - we have picked up a potential star who can have an immediate impact, have the ability to pick up another potential star with pick 9 and upgraded our pick 72 to 53.

Better than putting all our eggs in one basket I think (pick 2).

grundy went at 19.

i think we're going to get something of some degree of quality here.

i'm very pleased by the trade, especially if we get 21 and don't trade it for bernie.

Vince complements the midfield we are starting to assemble. You take out our under 22yo mids we only have Jones, great that we are seeming to put together a group of mids around the same age to come through, the fact is we need some experience in there as well.

No idea who we get a 9 but what we can see taking shape is a midfield, we haven't had one for many years.
