Well reports now coming in that we are into him big time.

I did some research and came up with a couple of links.

Lloyd Perris (St George)

Height: 179 cm

Weight: 74 kg

Position: Midfielder

Player comparison: Kieran Jack

Strengths: Endurance, leadership and footy smarts.

Weaknesses: Injury history, hurt factor with disposal

Can someone explain the rules relating to the Sydney Academy. The way it was written in the article suggested that Sydney were able to pick him up with their last pick in the draft. Is this true? If so how can we legally obtain him?

I think he has the choice of opting for the scholarship if he wants, otherwise he can just go into the draft in the regular way

If you want a laugh head over to the Swans Board on Bigfooty and have a look what there supporters are now saying about Roos LOL

Opened that link and saw a Melbourne post with Kate Upton as profile pic followed by a scathingly arrogant comment directed at another poster Gee, who could that be?

Look at those legs. He has put a lot of strength training into those quads. Get Him

When I looked quickly at the title of the thread. I got a bit excited, I thought I had logged into something else. LOL

The fact of the matter is that even if Perris decides to put his name up for the draft, there's no guarantee that we're going to draft him. That said, Colless is being angry with Roos for giving him sound advice about his future welfare i.e that he's a good enough player to test himself out in the open market at the draft where his financial position if taken, would be far better than if he limits himself as a rookie to one club.

Roos is being honest and helping to one of his former charges.

Colless is being selfish, greedy and exploitative. You can tell he's been involved at the AFL for a long time.

So as I see it if he goes into the draft he becomes like a father - son type scenario. So the Swans can select him after any other club calls his name in the draft with their next pick. So all Colless is whinging about is having to pay fair price for Perris's drafting. If the Swans want him they can still have him but would have to give up a reasonable pick and pay the kid a fair salary.

I can understand that such a scheme can be justified for GWS which won't benefit from a father/son pick for a couple of decades but the Swans already benefit from having father/sons. Tom Mitchell was taken by them last year and made his debut this season.

It seems to me that this is another rort that benefits the Swans and must be ended ASAP.

Isn't this under the long-established NSW scholarship scheme?

That all clubs are able to utilise?

Collingwood did it with Witts.

Geelong had Ranga Ediriwickrama, who was hyped as being one of the greatest players ever prior to be drafted and fading into obscurity.

We had a scholarship holder in Teddy Ruxpin a couple of years ago that we didn't bother promoting (can't remember his real surname - Sheringham?)

Here is a some new information regarding this kid:

1. Stated on Footy Classified last night that Perris is the last of Sydney's scholarship holders, he was offered a confirmed rookie position but nothing further. So why are Sydney complaining if he nominates himself for the draft in an attempt for a position on a senior list (clearly worth one).

2. Based on the limited stats I have obtained over the U18 championships (thank you to a certain unnamed someone on this site), I have him covered in two games:

Round 2 VM (126) vs. NSW (62): 26 Disposals (11 Contested), 8 Marks, 1 Goal 1 Behind, 4 Tackles, 1 FF, 0 FA, 4 Clearances, 2 I50, 4 R50.

AN EXTREMELY GOOD GAME! One of the BOG, his stats that day were very similar to Kelly's although Kelly only had 4 contested possessions of his 26 total.

Round 4 NSW (47) vs. QLD (56): 17 Disposals (8 Contested), 3 Marks. 0 Goals 0 Behinds, 2 Tackles, 1 FF, 0 FA, 1 Clearance, 5 I50, 0 R50.

He was a little quieter in this game, although in both I am very impressed by his contested possession count. He has a very nice balance between his contested possessions and uncontested possessions.

Statistics legend: FF = Frees For, FA = Frees Against, I50 = Inside 50, R50 = Rebound 50.

Unfortunately I don't have any of the statistics for his other games.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
