2014 MFC Recruiting Guesses not facts

My guess is that once trade week starts one club will be willing to trade a big name player for pick 2. Someone that has not even had a mention on here.

I'm feeling a bit contrary today and I don't think you can go very far ATM with the other thread.

My first guess is that we won't be making a play for Buddy Franklin.

I think you can go ahead and put that on the "Fact" thread, Jack.

I heard through a friends grandma that Neeld was a lock for Injectiondons coaching gig next year.

They were impressed with his ability to push on while obviously a lame duck

My guess is we'll end up holding onto our first two round draft picks as there won't be any reasonable trades on offer for them.

Sloane in the red and the blue next year.

Roos loves him.

Agree, when push comes to shove, Adelaide will offer Sloane in my opinion, they would kill to get their hands on Aish. and although some consider it overs, i'd be happy to pay that to get an experienced gun mid like Sloane on board.

Melbounre trade Pick 36 to Freo in exchange for Viv Michie & Pick 51.

Sign Daniel Cross & Maverick Weller as delisted free agents.

De-list Nicholson, Jetta & Magner

Go to the national draft and pick up:

Pick 2: James Aish

Pick 20: Zak Jones

Pick 51: Cameron Giles

Pick 54: Mitch Honeychurch

Pick 72: Matthew Haynes

Rookie Draft:

Pick 2: Peter Steffe

Pick 20: Mitch Thorp

Pick 2 - Adams & pick 10

pick 10 - Matt Crouch

pick 18 - Nathan Freeman

pick 20 - Zak jones

pick 21 ( FA comp) - Shane Savage & 33

pick 33, Jack Fitzpatrick - pick 18 ( freo )

pick 38 - Lloyd Perris

pick 54 - Brady gray

Not big on Cross as he has more yesterdays than tomorrows.

Would like to see our mids chosen from Martin ,Garlett ,Sloane,Swallow ,Thomas etc

No point losing Neville Jetta yet as he has mid potential (tackles ,good hands ,quick).

I think we need to do a Norf in the early 70s and just get the best we can and spend whatever we must now rather than die a slow death.

I dont expect us to be drafting skinny young mids for some time .

Morton ,Gysberts ,Scully=i still hate you all.

My guess is that this board becomes obsessed with getting Viv Michie, and nobody has any idea why.

My guess is that the club will be specifically targeting any two of Mitchell Hallahan (HAW), Viv Michie (FRE), Jordan Schroder (GEE), and Levi Greenwood (NM).

My ideal choice would be Hallahan - very hard at it, loves a bump (ex-boxing champion), very good awareness, and has some nice dash.

I'm also big fan of Michie although concerned with his patella injury as these can sometimes be degenerating.

Greenwood's 38 disposal game vs the Bombers this year was super impressive, he also had a few other mid to high 20's possession games so could be a steal.

Schroder the other young J.J Liston winner (equal 3 way tie) could be a smokey in years to come.

Very good year in the WAFL. Decent speed and reasonable disposal.

Just had his unjury issues and lack of opportunity. It's been rumored he's keen to come back to Victoria and if he didn't walk into our starting 22 he'd at least be in our best 25 you'd think.

Plenty of players have a good year in the WAFL, SANFL etc. Doesn't mean he is worth putting on our list. Decent speed and reasonable disposal doesn't fill me with confidence that he will add something to our list.

Taylor Adams I am hearing is a big target. I believe our 2nd pick is part of the deal

Just a guess of course!

Has your source got anything right yet?

Told me we were big into Roos in May. Told me we had him 10 days before announcement. Told me Watts had agreed to 3 year deal a week before announced and that is just recent stuff. Yeah this guy has been pretty good. However trade stuff is different, lots of variables. We are not the only kid on the block chasing!

Your source is demonland then?

Ahhh. You mean YOU have no idea why. That's all you had to articulate.

Do some of your own research on the guy if you want to know.

No [censored] plenty of players have good years in such leagues, but that's not the reason people continue to harp on about him.

As I said, go and have a dig around yourself.

I'm into Viv for the following reasons.

- 21 yoa who was in terrific form for a streak of WAFL matches before he injured himself again at the end of the year.

- Is a smart and skilled 187 cm player who rotates through the midfield and forward line. Note he is skilled. Something we lack. Quality.

- Is a Victorian boy and these are the types I'm sure we are going for. The only reason he wasn't getting a gig in the seniors

is because of the season and midfield Freo had/have and he had a rotten run with injuries.

I will be over the moon if we get him. Quality young mid who has been in the system for a few years and has shown some seriously consistent form in the WAFL. Skilled and smart. Get him to the dees.

Oh, I've done my research. I apologise if I'm not as excited about this kid as you seem to be.

Viv Michie has played 1 - ONE - senior game of AFL football in three years. He has spent most of this time injured with stress fractures in his right foot. Yes, he played some good footy in the WAFL again before, you guess it, he got injured again. He can find the footy and has good skills but his defensive running still needs some work. I didn't see all of his games this year, only saw a few, but he isn't someone we should be chasing. An injury prone midfielder/forward is something we can do without.

And Josh Kennedy didn't win a Brownlow. All Australian and a premiership player, but no brownlow. Michie and Kennedy are two totally different players, so the comparison is a little off.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
