Last time this year and the big question is whether the news of the possible appointment of Paul Roos will have an effect in the mindset of the players and turn what would otherwise be a non event into a game worth attending.

Also - good luck to Flash on a great career somewhat diminished by injury in the latter years.

I feel there is nothing that could make the MFC current team perform well.

But I would live to be proven wrong.

Can anybody calculate the required winning margin of GWS over the Suns to be able to pass us and leave us in last place

Now that would really finish the year on a great note and slightly improve our draft!

There are a few variables in the equation, the margin in our own game being one.

If we lost and held the margin to 8 goals (which is the line bet) and the GWSGs squeaked home (against the 7+ goal line) the Spoon result would be close to a dead-heat.

Boys will be filled with purpose after their little chat with Mr Roos, thinking we will really come to play

especially Wattsy and Sylvia

Hoping for a win to take into preseason and 2 wins against the Doggies in an awful year.

Even though it's Sheeds' last game, they won't win and give us pick 1.

Against all reason, I still harbor an irrational man-love for Neville Jetta. Here's hoping he kicks 10 goals and has 50 possessions today. That way, he might just stay on our list next year.

I've spent Nev's whole career wanting more than anything for him to light up. As an MFC supporter, to have a kid who works really hard, is tough as nails turn and made entirely of the right stuff turn out to be no good just seems cruel, but alas, that's what we've got with him sadly.

Players will want to impress today. If Roos was at the 'G last night then he may well be watching closely at Etihad.

I am now expecting a hard fought close game.

A win would rock.

He will probably end up sub - if he has a really good game and we struggle to secure a small forward in the draft/trade then he just might keep his spot.

Really expected big things fro him this year but is walking on very thin ice. Who knows what we would be saying about him if he didn't get that 3 week suspension (just when his form was good).

Actually on paper our team looks capable of winning [but then again, that has been the tease all season]!

Not once this season (aside from GWS) have I thought our side looked capable of winning. The list is putrid

expect a bit more spring in their step today. I think the workrate and second efforts might up tempo.

its so much between the ears who really knows what outcome possible .

Think theyll try to go out with respect and not a whimper now.

go dees

A comment from a true believer.

However I no longer this team can achieve anything.

I still can not understand how the team won two games.

With the lead that the Suns have over GWS at the moment, no matter what the result for us today our ladder position will remain second last.

No changes to either side. Tappy the sub.

I don't get why they listed that interchange for Melbourne? Do they change it from Fridays?

Sunday, September 1

Western Bulldogs v Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, 4.40pm

NO LATE CHANGES

FINAL INTERCHANGES

Western Bulldogs: Jarrad Grant, Matthew Boyd, Easton Wood

Substitute: Koby Stevens

Melbourne: Jimmy Toumpas, Colin Sylvia, Matt Jones

Substitute: Luke Tapscott

Really hope Jimmy Toumpas, Dean Kent and Jack Trengove continue good form, would love them to have good games today and momentum going into huge pre seasons under the Roos program

Fridays is just something to get it down on paper. The 22 don't have to start in their allotted positions. Pre-game the interchange must be the commencing bench for the start of the match.

Thanks - Sylvia should start on the ground (need all the big senior bodies out there from the bounce)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
